I used to think the Forest of the Four Seasons was called that purely in a metaphorical sense.
A demonic domain overflowing with all kinds of environmental elements, where diverse seasons breathed life.
Which wasn’t entirely wrong, considering the vastly different terrains unfolding right across the river.
Out of all of them, I thought the volcanic zone was truly hopeless.
But it turned out the volcanic zone wasn’t the only hopeless place. This spot right here was just as hopeless.
Title: It snowed haha
Wild Grylls

(Photo of tools buried in snow)
It was so fucking cold this morning I wondered what was going on, and turns out it snowed overnight?
Yesterday it was literally pouring rain, so having this happen all of a sudden gives me a headache haha.
How the fuck am I supposed to clear away all this white trash?
└ Heavenly Demon) It is quite lovely. However, how can a season change in just a single night?
└ Sword Matstar) It must be because it’s the Forest of the Four Seasons. As expected, it’s a place completely detached from common sense.
└ Princess Chaenggu) Just like Heavenly Demon-nim said, it’s so pretty! It looks like a place straight out of a fairy tale.
└ Heavenly Demon) Hm. For once, you speak sense.
└ Princess Chaenggu) Only because I feel like I’ll get banned if I don’t behave myself haha.
└ How can that happen overnight? That’s fucking crazy.
└ That’s why it’s called the Forest of the Four Seasons.
└ If the season changes out of nowhere, how do you even prepare? It’s truly an uninhabitable place lol
└ Most people would die in a day;; If Grylls didn’t have the Gallery, he would’ve been killed by the Mad Dog.
└ Starlight Lady) Switching to winter so suddenly is strange. Were there no signs at all?
└ Wild Grylls) (Photo of Wonmo, who turned completely round from fattening up rapidly) This guy did gain weight at a ridiculous speed.
└ Starlight Lady) Oh my. That is so cute. The name Wonmo suits him wonderfully.
└ Hey, pick that guy up and roll him. I wonder if he rolls degul-degul.
└ lololol But wouldn’t he actually roll really well?
└ Wonmo! Rolls!
└ Starlight Lady) You people are truly terrible.
└ Praise the Sun) Woah. It almost never snows in our country, but over there it probably snows at the drop of a hat.
└ Does it even snow in Setan? It’s a desert.
└ It happens once in a blue moon. But over there, rain or snow is basically a natural disaster, so it’s a huge deal if it hits.
└ Why? Doesn’t the sand just absorb it all anyway?
└ When that clumped sand collapses, you’re fucked;; Plus, most houses in Setan are made of mud, so they’re extremely weak against rain.
└ Passing Dwarf) Aren’t you cold though? I recall those clothes being pretty thin.
└ Wild Grylls) Yeah, it’s sooooo fucking cold. Any chance you could spare a set of clothes?
└ Passing Dwarf) I can give you some leftovers. But for custom-made stuff, I’d have to ask my friend.
└ Wild Grylls) Please ask him for now. If it’s tough, tell him I’ll trade another mature mandrake.
└ Passing Dwarf) Okay, wait a sec. Might take a bit to find winter clothes that fit your size.
The sudden arrival of winter was a problem, but above all, the temperature had plunged drastically.
Whether due to their fur or not, Wonmo and Speed Sloth seemed to endure it, but I certainly couldn’t.
It was a bone-chilling, biting cold. Wrapping myself in the hides I used as carpets was utterly useless.
’I miss heating...’
How wonderful would it be if I could just turn on a heater? Shivering uncontrollably, I looked around the cave entrance.
Fortunately, aside from the thick blanket of snow, nothing particularly caught my eye.
However, I couldn’t relax just yet. I had to check how other areas were faring.
’Did winter arrive where the gorillas live too?’
It was highly likely, but who knew? That area was a tropical rainforest.
I had never heard of winter sweeping into a tropical rainforest, even if it were a forest.
Well, considering it was the Forest of the Four Seasons, it wasn’t entirely impossible either.
Barely warming myself over the campfire, I waited for Passing Dwarf’s message.
Browsing the Gallery for info to distract myself from the cold was a bonus.
└ Wild Grylls) It’s too cold. Can’t I do something with my mental cultivation method?
└ Heavenly Demon) Circulating your mental cultivation method will raise your body temperature slightly. However, you must maintain it continuously.
└ Sword Matstar) It’s just as Heavenly Demon-nim says. Think of it roughly as generating internal heat.
└ Wild Grylls) Thank you. I’ll do it right away.
└ Allfather) Truly... it is a forest that goes beyond curious to mystical. Shifting to winter in a single night. Were there no traces of autumn?
└ Wild Grylls) I’m not really sure about that. It came out of nowhere for me too;;
└ Allfather) I see. Even so, considering that winter exists there, Grylls-nim is quite fortunate.
└ Wild Grylls) What’s that supposed to mean?
└ Allfather) Winter is a period when energy consumption surges due to the cold. If a region experiences only winter, creatures are usually massive, but in places where all four seasons exist, creatures are smaller on average. Insects especially so.
└ Ah. I heard about that before. Places where humans can live easily are also easy for animals to live.
└ Isn’t Wydd like that? The bugs there are fucking massive lol
└ Wydd is a country where fairies actually exist. It’s truly terrifying.
└ Suspiciously... Thanks to that, most of us Beastfolk are pretty huge too, so... seeing the bountiful harvest every year warms my heart lol Can you guys even grow corn?
└ Fucking hell, as someone from Zhongyuan, I can only sigh. Why are all our lands shitty soil? This chapter was copied from novelрing.com without permission.
└ Shitty soil my ass lol You guys just refuse to develop it claiming to be ’nature-friendly’. Even the Elves are developing their land nowadays lol
└ Didn’t Elves used to have a nature-friendly image in the past?
└ Yeah, but after the Elf Queen ascended the throne, she started developing like crazy. That blew their potential wide open.
└ The Elf Queen is a total crazy bitch, she captivated public sentiment with a single speech and led them exactly where she wanted lol
└ fr She knows what Elves want. That’s why she’s even scarier.
└ Even the Senate united, agreeing that ’that bitch is completely insane’ lol
Amidst the exchange of useless rumors and gossip, Allfather’s information stood out.
Animals in regions with winter are, on average, smaller in size.
In other words, the area where I live is inhabited by "on average" smaller animals.
’No, fuck me. An "on average small" area looks like this?!’
Wonmo’s mother alone was the size of a whole fucking house.
The saber-toothed tiger was practically house-sized as well.
If this was small on average, how monstrously huge were creatures elsewhere?
I couldn’t even fathom it, and a wave of futility washed over me. I shouldn’t have listened.
’But what’s even more serious than that is...’
Food. Shivering, I headed outside.
In my freezing state, there was something I hadn’t checked yet. The fish.
Worried something might have happened to them, I peered inside the iron bucket.
"Oh, man. I’m screwed."
Not only the water in the iron bucket, but even the fish were frozen solid.
Natural cold storage. I couldn’t help but sigh.
Title: Should I throw this away?
Wild Grylls
(Photo of frozen solid fish)
It froze rock-solid in that short span of time. Should I throw this out? Or should I just pop out the inner cores inside?
└ Heavenly Demon) You need not worry. As long as it harbors an inner core, it will not freeze to death.
└ Wild Grylls) Is that even possible?
└ Heavenly Demon) Would an inner core be called an inner core for nothing? You may trust this noble self.
└ Sword Matstar) Would anyone easily believe you if you just tell them to trust you blindly? You should provide more scientific facts.
└ Wild Grylls) Can you provide them?
└ Sword Matstar) Nope. I’m just a musclehead who only dug into martial arts haha.
└ Wild Grylls) ;;
└ Heavenly Demon) I recall your martial arts were quite underwhelming as well.
└ Sword Matstar) You fucking bitch?
└ Heavenly Demon) What did you just say?
└ Sword Matstar) Orange Badge-nim. The Assistant Admin is abusing her power;;
└ Don’t Abandon the Hero) Swearing is wrong too! But Heavenly Demon-nim, please don’t do that in the future either!
└ Allfather) Just as Heavenly Demon-nim said, if it harbors an inner core, it is likely still alive. It hasn’t even entered hibernation; it is probably perfectly alive.
└ Wild Grylls) Can it be explained scientifically?
└ Allfather) Yes. Most fish harboring inner cores produce a substance called ardorotoxin... (omitted) ... and that is how it works.
└ Wild Grylls) Oh. I see.
└ Hm. I completely understood.
└ Honestly I was just about to explain that.
└ Bullshit is truly in full bloom lol
└ Fucking bastards who couldn’t even reach the foot of the Academy lol
Even so, food worries persisted. For starters, I couldn’t procure any directly.
I’d have to go see for myself, but in weather this cold, the river must be frozen solid.
I did have smoked tiger meat, but I had no idea how long winter would last.
’Was animals visiting my cave yesterday also part of their winter preparations?’
It wasn’t completely nonsensical. Shivering, I threw firewood into the campfire.
Without winter clothes, activity was practically impossible.
Even wearing all the jerseys given by Princess Chaenggu and King Reor, I was still cold.
If I didn’t even have these, wouldn’t I have frozen to death long ago?
’Are there any magic items that heat up an interior?’
The thought suddenly struck me, so I posted on the Gallery.
I had to warm up the cave first before deciding whether to venture outside.
Title: Is there any magic item that warms an entire room?
Wild Grylls
(Photo of campfire)
It’s too cold with just a campfire. Is there anything that heats up an entire room?
└ Heavenly Demon) This noble self’s bedchamber is always warm, so I shall go ask my aides.
└ Sword Matstar) There are some, but they only heat the sleeping area. To warm a whole house, people use fireplaces.
└ Wild Grylls) Is it hard to warm an entire room with something like a crystal orb?
└ Passing Dwarf) To do that, you’d have to tear up the whole floor, wouldn’t you? But you have mithril in your floor.
└ Princess Chaenggu) Dwarf-nim is right! Rather than using crystal orbs, renovating the house is much more efficient.Find the original chapter at novelping dot com.
└ Wild Grylls) Then what’s best?
└ Passing Dwarf) Better to just build a fireplace. It’s easier to punch through the ceiling than through the floor.
└ Wild Grylls) But that’s hard...
└ Passing Dwarf) Or freeze to death then lol
└ Wild Grylls) Sigh.
└ Passing Dwarf) I’ll post a rough guide on how to build one, so follow that. It’s easy if you have bricks.
So I have to break through somewhere regardless. I let out a dry laugh.
Because of this unseasonal winter ambush, repairs were mandatory.
’The ceiling is relatively better.’
If only because of the mithril, I couldn’t tear up the entire floor.
Recalling the necessary materials, I began preparations.
[Passing Dwarf: Here are winter clothes.]
I don’t have shoes in your size, so I can’t give you any.
[Wild Grylls: Thx thx, even that is awesome.]
[Passing Dwarf: I’ll post right after sending this, so go check it.]
Before that, I received winter clothes from Dwarf. They were temporary garments.
Impressive clothes made of fur and leather that looked warm just to look at.
The hood in particular was large enough to be described as luxurious.
Winter gear that looked like something gun-toting hunters would wear.
"Brrr."
Putting them on made life bearable at least. However, my cold feet couldn’t be helped.
I’d just have to put on a thick pair of socks and call it a day. Conveniently, there were suitable socks on the Gallery.
Now that I was fully bundled up in winter clothes, all that remained was installing a fireplace in the cave.
Dwarf said he’d post right away, so I just needed to follow his instructions.
Title: Here’s the fireplace blueprint. Take a look.
Passing Dwarf
(Photo of fireplace cross-section drawing)
(Photo of a fireplace)
This should be enough, right? The principle itself is simple, so you’ll build it quickly.
└ Wild Grylls) Thanks. But if I light a fire, I have to block the cave entrance too, right?
└ Passing Dwarf) Yeah, obviously. Don’t bother setting up a door, just block it with thick cloth or hides. That’s better.
└ Wild Grylls) ok
I was able to grasp the structure through the cross-section diagram. Dwarf’s explanation was an added bonus.
The structure itself wasn’t difficult, but the issue was the chimney. I had to seal the gaps between bricks so smoke wouldn’t leak.
For the oven and furnace, I had always sealed brick gaps with mud.
What did that mean?
Kkang! Kkang!
"Ah, damn it! I’m losing my mind!"
It meant I had to suffer like a dog digging up frozen-solid ground.
Rain yesterday and snow today turned the dirt into practically solid ice.
’Could I pour hot water to melt it?’ I thought, but gave up immediately.
It would just be me putting on a one-man show of futility. Pouring water on frozen ground in winter was sheer madness.
’Guess I have to mine it with a pickaxe.’
In the end, I had no choice but to "mine" with a pickaxe. What a fucking ordeal.
After gathering all the dirt I needed, I bought a ladder from the auction house.
To climb up to the cave ceiling and inspect for a good spot.
The ladder I bought last time for butchering was a folding ladder, so it was too short.
The ladder I bought this time was tall enough to reach high places.
’Roughly around here...’
Tuk-
It was while I was inspecting various spots on the ceiling to find a suitable location.
A pure white object landed softly on the back of my hand.
Wearing gloves, I felt no sensation, but that didn’t matter.
Tuuk- Tuk-
Because it wasn’t just once; pure white objects were descending one after another.
I raised my head to the sky. Dark clouds had gathered unnoticed, completely blocking the sun.
’Wow...’
Trash is falling from the sky. What a truly rotten place.
As if reading my thoughts:
Hwiiiiing!!!
"Twaaaaaa!!!"
In just 30 seconds, the snow evolved into a full-blown "blizzard."
’What the fuck did I do wrong?!’
I was dying of injustice.
