Title) Guys, is this a dragon?
Wild Grylls
(Photo of the dragon? killed after a fierce battle)
(Photo of the considerably large dragon?)
(Photo of Grylls’s upper body frozen solid after getting hit by a water blast)
I caught this while ice fishing and posted it because it looks like a dragon.
It shot a water blast, and the moment it touched my body, it froze instantly. Couldn’t have caught it without Lackey.
Anyway, since it looks like a dragon, is this a dragon? Do dragons live in rivers too?
└ Heavenly Demon) It is a Water Dragon. It is an individual that evolved from a fish, not an Imugi.
Wild Grylls) It’s okay to eat, right?
└ Heavenly Demon) Even I have never tasted one... but since it is ultimately a fish, it should be fine.
└ Sword Matstar) A Water Dragon? Not a Sea Dragon?
└ What’s the difference between a Water Dragon and a Sea Dragon?
└ Water Dragons evolved from fish, Sea Dragons evolved from Imugi. Sea Dragons are closer to the dragons we know.
└ So they’re different species, right?
└ Yep
└ Allfather) A similar example is the Earth Dragon. Earth Dragons are individuals that evolved from lizards.
└ Did the professor escape prison?
└ Looks like he needs to eat tofu
└ He finally got research material, tell him to ask for it kekeke
Wild Grylls) I’m going to make spicy fish stew with this though?
└ Crazy;;
└ Treating a Water Dragon as spicy stew ingredient;;
└ By the way, how did you catch that Water Dragon? Looks pretty strong
Wild Grylls) I beat the f**k out of it with my fishing rod and it went limp?
└ ;;;
└ Now he’s using a fishing rod as a weapon;;
└ Isn’t the rod made of Mithril too?
└ Seriously an item that even most rich folks couldn’t dream of kekeke
It was a rare ingredient obtained with great effort. Giving it to Allfather as research material felt like a waste.
It would be great to solve lunch with it at the same time. Of course, I didn’t forget to kill it completely beforehand.
In all my life, I never thought I’d eat a dragon, but well... since it was close to a fish, I let it slide.
’Who would believe it if I said I hooked a Water Dragon while ice fishing?’
Yet the Forest of the Four Seasons made even this possible.
I asked the group, who had come outside to see what was happening, to help prepare the meal.
Since the Water Dragon was so massive, it seemed better for everyone to prepare it together.
’First, I need to remove the Inner Core.’
I focused my vision to pinpoint the location of the Inner Core.
Since it was essentially no different from a spiritual beast, its whole body glittered.
The Inner Core was likely located at the sparkliest spot. I removed it immediately.
Perhaps because it evolved from a fish, the size of its Inner Core was also quite large.
’This glows in rainbow colors too. Is it a dragon pearl?’
After indulging in random thoughts for a brief moment, I immediately set to work butchering it.
In this cold weather, boiling it into a spicy fish stew was perfect.
For that, a large pot was necessary. I purchased one from the auction house.
"Ludwig-ssi. Please help trim this."
"...This?"
"Just debone it and chop it into bite-sized pieces. I’ll go grab the vegetables."
Leaving the butchering to a bewildered Ludwig, I entered the food storage.
Burlap sacks held various vegetables. Items cultivated in advance before winter arrived.
’Radish, green onions, garlic, onions, chili peppers....’
I brought all the vegetables needed for the spicy fish stew, and next prepared the seasoning paste.
Seasoning paste varies according to preference, but I was satisfied with the basic recipe.
Chili paste, chili powder, soy sauce, minced garlic, and so on. Since it was winter, I focused on a savory, spicy kick.
Missing ingredients were purchased from the auction house or requested from Gallery fixed-handles. Among them, Praise the Sun was surprising.
[Praise the Sun: I’ll give you a rare ingredient, so can you give me just a bite?]
[Wild Grylls: What ingredient is it?]
[Praise the Sun: Pine truffles, famously known as truffles.]
[Wild Grylls: Is it really okay to add truffles to spicy fish stew?;;]
[Praise the Sun: Honestly, the spice will probably overpower it, but it shouldn’t matter. Just consider it a token of my goodwill.]
[Wild Grylls: Rather than that, do you have dried kelp?]
[Praise the Sun: I have some, should I give you that?]
How much did he want a bite to even offer such expensive truffles?
Praise the Sun seemed focused on rare treasures.
As for me, giving away a single bite didn’t matter much, so I didn’t care.
Now that all preparations were done, I tossed in the dried kelp first to brew the broth.
Dried kelp was an ingredient optimized for making broth. However, boiling it too long brought out a astringent taste, so boiling it moderately was better.Enjoying the story? Read on at NovelPing.
’Once it’s simmered, I’ll put in the vegetables and seasoning paste.’
Was it because I put in a lot of chili powder, or because it was Central Plains-style chili powder?
The soup was exceptionally red, looking intensely spicy to anyone’s eyes.
"Master."
"What now."
"Are you perhaps boiling lava?"
"..."
It was to the point where even Lackey said something like that. In fact, a spicy aroma was already creeping over.
Very satisfying. In this freezing winter, this level of spiciness would make for a satisfying meal.
The only concerning part was the pungent spicy smell, but...
"Ggurureureuk!!!"
The Vending Machine Crab, who had come outside out of curiosity, caught one whiff and scampered away in a rush.
If even a crab ran away, there was no need to speak of other animals.
In proportion, the group’s expressions worsened, but I didn’t care.
If it wasn’t tasty, I could just eat it all myself. If they had a problem, they could cook their own food.
"Ludwig-ssi. Have you finished butchering it?"
"I have."
"Please throw it in here."
Finally, I dropped in the Water Dragon butchered by Ludwig.
With Poondong! Poondong! sounds, the Water Dragon pieces floated around.
Fascinatingly, as soon as the Water Dragon was added, the pungent spicy smell diminished noticeably.
Instead, the flesh of the Water Dragon gradually turned a reddish hue, appearing to absorb the seasoning nicely.
Bugeul-bugeul-bugeul—
I waited quietly until the Water Dragon meat became tender.
Then a good idea struck me, so I went back into the Shelter.
"Is that...?"
"It’s the infused liquor I received before."
It was home-brewed liquor infused personally by the kind dwarf. Inside, a Dragon Gastrolith floated gently.
Drinking alcohol in broad daylight, and in a place like this, was inherently dangerous.
How could anyone resist alcohol with savory, spicy fish stew? Besides, I planned to drink in moderation.
’If I get tipsy, I can just clear it with Internal Energy Regulation.’
Shouldn’t there be days like this occasionally? Need to relieve stress.
Still, since beasts might raid us, I didn’t forget to keep an eye on our surroundings.
Before long, the Water Dragon turned red, and its flesh cooked to a tender soft finish. It seemed ready to eat.
"Here, here. Have a cup, everyone."
[I-I want a sip too....]
"What alcohol for someone without even a mouth? Bbareumbo. Do you want some too?"
"..."
Bbareumbo nodded slowly, perhaps curious about alcohol as well.
For snacks, replacing them with Fasting Pills was enough. He didn’t seem interested in eating the spicy fish stew anyway.
Anyway, as time passed and the spicy fish stew was completed, I ladled a large chunk of meat into my bowl.
"Master. I think Master has made a huge mistake."
"I made a mistake?"
"There is no cooked white rice."
"Ah."
Focused so much on the spicy fish stew, I committed a massive blunder. I realized it belatedly with an ’Aha’.
Eating spicy fish stew like this would get sickening quickly. But even at the auction house, there was no freshly cooked rice, only uncooked grains.
[Heavenly Demon: Rice, you say? Regrettably, the Martial Arts Tournament is soon, so it seems difficult to procure.]
[Wild Grylls: Ah... I understand. Make sure to win!]
[Heavenly Demon: If you need it, I will postpone the Martial Arts Tournament.]
[Wild Grylls: No, please! You have important matters to attend to. I’ll ask someone else!]
Regrettably, I couldn’t get cooked rice from Heavenly Demon. If possible, I wanted to receive rice from someone of the Central Plains.
The regions where Hero Asella and other fixed-handles lived were closer to Western or Middle Eastern settings.
Since those weren’t places with rice as a staple, asking them would only bring troubling answers.
’Wait. There is still one person left.’
I asked a person presumed to be from the Central Plains, like Heavenly Demon.
Fortunately, as if he were also browsing the Gallery, a reply arrived quickly.
[Smart Demon: What? Warm, cooked white rice, you say? Didn’t you say you hunted a Water Dragon earlier?]
[Wild Grylls: I cooked spicy fish stew, but I don’t have cooked rice....]
[Smart Demon: What on earth is this;; Anyway, I understand. I’ll fetch some right away.]
[Wild Grylls: Thank you. Should I give you a chunk of spicy fish stew?]
[Smart Demon: Could you perhaps include some radish as well...?]
I even received warm cooked white rice from Smart Demon. Preparation was complete.
I tore off a thick piece of Water Dragon meat and placed it atop the steaming hot white rice.
Perhaps because it was winter, massive clouds of steam rose up. This was true health food. The source of this chapter is NovelPing.
"Huu. Huu. Haam."
I cooled it slightly with my breath and put it in my mouth. As soon as it entered my mouth, a chewy texture was felt.
If there was a peculiar trait to the fish living here, it was that there was absolutely no fishy smell.
The Water Dragon was no different. Far from fishy, it felt like eating Korean beef butchered today.
Combined with that, the broth packed full of the Water Dragon’s vitality! The savory spice refreshed my entire body.
’If I add the infused liquor to this....’
An exclamation slipped out naturally. The others seemed similar to me, reacting with admiration.
Taste was taste, but even more astounding was the vitality. Having just exercised, my energy had been depleted.
Yet the moment I took a bite of the Water Dragon stew, I felt the energy inside my body swell to full capacity.
"Master. I feel vitality surging through my body."
"It seems rich in mana."
It wasn’t just me. There was no health food quite like this.
Since I even added that expensive truffle, even the aroma was unique.
’It would be a waste to eat something like this alone.’
I immediately ladled portions into bowls and passed them to Praise the Sun and Smart Demon.
Because the Water Dragon was so large, finishing it among ourselves was tough. Sharing was more than feasible.
Title) Spicy fish stew is seriously delicious

This is true happiness kekeke
└ Sword Matstar) Wow. It looks really delicious. Should I try making it too?
└ Do you have a Water Dragon?
└ You don’t necessarily need a Water Dragon to boil spicy fish stew;;
└ Never in my life did I think I’d see a bastard making spicy stew out of a Water Dragon kekekekeke
└ This guy literally sharpens his knives with Mithril kekeke
After filling our bellies warmly for once, we neatly finished cleaning up.
The amount was quite large, but my party, including myself, could easily devour three servings per meal.
Especially me, since the amount of mana stored in my body was transcendentally vast, I tended to eat a lot.
’Now I’ll just laze around and play until dinner.’
Rubbing my full belly, I glanced toward the river.
Although the ice had been shattered to pieces by the Water Dragon’s emergence, it had already frozen over again.
I planned to try ice fishing tomorrow as well. I wondered what kind of species would pop up after a Water Dragon.
’Looking at this, winter isn’t entirely bad.’
It felt like a rate-up event. Things you normally couldn’t see popped up frequently.
Well, even so, I wasn’t going to venture out on explorations.
Partly because of the heavy snow falling, and because Cheongseol had also returned to the roots of the World Tree.
Thus, after essentially free-loading through the day, evening arrived.
"Haa... Why is it so hot?"
However, whether because of the Water Dragon, the infused liquor, or both...
Heat just wouldn’t leave my body. Usually, heat in the body accompanied headaches.
Not at all in this case. It was literally just heat. This was the same not only for me, but for the rest of the group as well.
’Everyone is sweating like... it’s not like this is a sauna.’
Everyone was dripping with sweat. They were hot enough to even take off their thermal underwear.
Having no choice, I decided to operate my Internal Cultivation Art. And then I realized.
’What’s wrong with my... mana? Why is it circulating so fast?’
The mana inside my body was circulating like crazy.
Because it was spinning so rapidly, I hadn’t realized it sooner.
Fortunately, I realized it now; otherwise, I almost left it unattended.
Surprised as I was, I focused intensely and slowly pacified the mana.
Fortunately, after calming it down, things slowly improved. I was able to control the rapid circulation at least.
"Huu... Is everyone okay?"
"I am alright."
"Me too."
The other companions had also rapidly operated their cultivation or mental methods, improving their condition.
The question was what effect we gained through this symptom. For starters, it was half-certain that our mana pool expanded.
Since it was too late right now, we’d have to check tomorrow. I suggested to the party that we rest for now.
’No doubt my Aura will have turned big and beautiful.’
Holding that thought, I tested it right away the next day to see if the Aura grew larger than before.
Yet lo and behold. The Aura hadn’t gotten bigger.
"...Is this a lightsaber?"
It had simply gotten denser.
