Chapter 49

I Got a Gallery in the Wild - Chapter 49

Due to the whole commotion caused by the leeches, I hurriedly posted on the Gallery.

Asking what to do when bitten by a leech, and mentioning that I had accidentally yanked off the one on the back of my neck.

Then, the super kind adventurer hyungs gave me the remedies.

└ Holy fuck. Why did you pull the leech off like that? Are you fucking dying to get an infection?

└ Wild Grylls) I didn’t know anything-ssung...

└ Whatever, if you have a potion, apply it to the bitten spot. You might be infected with parasites, so take some antiparasitic medication too.

└ Wild Grylls) It’s not a potion, it’s an Elixir. Is that okay? Does Elixir disinfect too? I know it regenerates stuff.

└ Just apply it;; What kind of weird question are you asking;;

└ An Elixir is literally an upgraded potion lol

└ Feels like watching a filthy rich newbie lol

└ Seeing how he pulled the leech off with his bare hands, he’s definitely got guts.

└ Its teeth might still be embedded, so remove the teeth first before applying it.

Only after receiving this affectionate(?) advice was I able to take proper measures.

Normally I would have had to take antiparasitic pills too, but apparently a single Elixir was more than enough.

Next time I come here, I think I’ll need to wrap something around my neck.

’I really don’t know why I’m suffering like this.’

I let out a sigh. Still, it was comforting that I didn’t come away empty-handed.

Once I get back to the cave, I’ll be busy—I have to dry my soggy clothes and shoes, cook food, and everything.

I wanted to set up the fish traps if possible, but since my shoes got soaked, that seems unlikely.

’I absolutely have to get proper shoes.’

The shoes I’m currently wearing are sneakers. The sneakers I’ve been wearing since before I got dropped here.

You might ask why I was wearing shoes when I was at home right before falling here.

I don’t really know about that either. All I know is that I was drinking.

’I don’t know if I should consider this a relief or not.’

Still, at least I had sneakers. Embracing the dampness, I trudged forward.

The further back I walked, the narrower the river became, and the current grew stronger.

It was only when I arrived back at the river where the hose was installed that it finally sunk in that I was almost back.

’I really traveled far this time.’

I logged onto the Gallery to check the time.

Current time: 12:20 PM. It didn’t take as long as expected.

I spent more time walking along the river than exploring the lakeside.

’Wonmo’s probably going to beg for food.’

Or maybe he’s anxious because I disappeared. Thinking that made me feel a bit rushed.

When I finally arrived at the cave, which now felt cozy, I could see it clearly.

"Kuu..."

"..."

Wonmo, sprawled out asleep with his belly wide open.

Even scratching his belly with his claws.

Whether I vanished or not, he was just taking a nap.

"..."

"...What, punk? What are you looking at?"

Speed Sloth was just standing there looking stupid.

A sigh escaped me as I realized I had worried for nothing.

Anyway, I need to clean up. I set down the backpack containing the crabs.

Looking inside, the crabs were just squirming around quietly.

’First, let’s light a fire.’

Tasks piled up like a mountain. I took off my somewhat dry clothes and threw them aside.

Washing the clothes can wait; washing my dirty body takes priority.

I didn’t forget to thoroughly check just in case there were leeches in places I couldn’t see.

’So the leech was only on my neck.’

The damn thing managed to attach itself in that split second when I fell; truly impressive.

I turned on the water from the hose and thoroughly washed every part of my body. Soap was a must.

Following the advice of Gallery users, specifically adventurers, I used unscented soap.

"Phew."

After a rough wash, I removed as much moisture as possible with a towel.

Then, I approached the campfire I had lit earlier and dried myself thoroughly.

’First, let’s buy a pair of temporary shoes.’

Since my sneakers got soaked, I need temporary shoes.

I entered the auction house and bought a decent pair of leather shoes.

I didn’t consider the shoe size. Since I’m using them as slippers anyway, anything roughly fitting is fine.

’I’ll leave the laundry here, and since my body is dry, I should put on different clothes.’

I still have plenty of uniforms given by Princess Chaenggu. But the pants are shorts.

Long pants are essential for exploration, so I plan to wash and dry them today.

I also have plenty of charcoal needed for washing. The adventurer hyungs told me to definitely collect it.

’Now what’s left is...’

Roasting the crabs. I put the crabs from the backpack into an iron bucket.

I added water to the iron bucket to keep them as fresh as possible.

Just like with fish, this iron bucket really comes in handy.

Now all that’s left is asking the Gallery how to prep them.

They say you just pry open the mouth(?), but I don’t really know what that means.

Anyone know how to prep crabs?

(Photo of crabs in an iron bucket)You are reading on novelping.com, the official source.

Instead of steaming, I’m just gonna roast them. Anyone know how to prep them?

└ Passing Dwarf) Woah. Looks damn delicious. Can’t you give me just one?

└ Wild Grylls) I told you I’ll give it tomorrow. You can’t even trade right now anyway.

└ Passing Dwarf) Ha, seriously;; If I knew this, I wouldn’t have traded.

└ Wild Grylls) Just wait one day. Can’t you even hold back that much?

└ Passing Dwarf) Nope, my hand holding the beer is literally shaking right now

└ Wild Grylls) Fuck, that’s literally alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Quit drinking already

└ Lollllll

└ Telling a Dwarf to quit drinking lmao

└ Might as well tell him to quit drugs fr

└ Are you doing drugs by any chance?

└ Nah nah just an example lol

└ This bastard is suspicious though?

└ Prepping crabs is lowkey easy. You know the slightly opening part at the mouth? If you twist it with a knife, you can drain the blood and water.

└ If you’re roasting instead of steaming, don’t put it back in water, just roast it as is.

└ The body part doesn’t easily burn inside so don’t worry and just roast it.

└ It’s best to remove as much moisture as possible. Otherwise, instead of roasting, it might end up boiled.

So I have to twist the mouth first. I nodded and pulled out my dagger.

Then I took out a crab from the iron bucket and looked it over.

As explained in the Gallery, the mouth structure pried open sideways.

’If I stick the dagger in here and twist sideways...’

Crunch!

With a satisfying crunch, the crab’s mouth was forced open.

As soon as the mouth opened, I flipped it upside down.

Transparent blood flowing from its mouth dripped down along with water.

"Kkuyu."

"Ah. You awake?"

While I was prepping the crab, Wonmo woke up.

Speed Sloth also slithered over, looking like he wanted food too.

"Wait a bit. I’ll give you something super delicious."

"Kkuyu!"

"..."

Wonmo’s eyes sparkled when I said it was delicious.

Speed Sloth didn’t show much of a reaction, but he was probably expecting it.

’Now that I’ve drained all the blood...’

Straight into the campfire, shot!

Due to its huge size, it covered the entire campfire and then some.

I added more firewood so that not only the body but also the legs would cook evenly.

Still, it would be bad if it got burnt pitch black, so I pulled it slightly away from the fire.

’They said I just need to wait 20 to 30 minutes, right?’

In the meantime, I entered the auction house and searched for shoes.

The shoes I wanted had quite demanding conditions.

Since I have to walk for long periods, breathability and convenience are a given, as well as waterproofing.

Most importantly, durability. The moment I injure my feet, my survival rate will plummet.

As I told Passing Dwarf, they are close to combat boots based primarily on ’durability’.

’Speaking of combat boots, it reminds me of the military.’

When I had just become a recruit, I thought I was gonna die during my first march.

Should I say the aftermath of the march was worse than the march itself?

Everyone was making a fuss over blisters or scraped skin, but I was totally fine.

To me, combat boots were just slightly heavy shoes, not particularly uncomfortable.

’I can’t find anything no matter how much I search.’

Even when looking at expensive ones, they didn’t meet the conditions I wanted.

Besides, most of those expensive ones were related to sports—things like soccer cleats or basketball shoes.

Looks like posting a thread is my only option. Before that, I bought a tape measure from the auction house.

Since I don’t know the length units here, I plan to lay the tape measure next to my foot.

Title) Requesting shoe commission.

Wild Grylls

(Photo of tape measure on top of foot)

It is as shown. Looking for shoes suitable for exploration. However, the conditions are strict.

(Most important) Must be durable. Injuring feet is a disaster, so this is top priority.

Waterproofing. Plenty of situations where shoes get wet.

Breathability and convenience. Actually, convenience is more important than breathability. Because I might head to high altitudes.

Non-slip. Almost died slipping when trying to stand up.

Leather shoes preferred if possible. Same reason as #3.

If someone crafts shoes roughly meeting the conditions above, I will give a Mature Mandrake.

I would appreciate it if you also upload videos and photos for performance testing. I hope many people see this.

└ Heavenly Demon) May this seat also participate?

└ Wild Grylls) Eh? Why Heavenly Demon-nim?Get faster updates on novelрing.com.

└ Heavenly Demon) I am bored.

└ Wild Grylls) Teacher-nim;;;

└ Sword Matstar) If you’re bored, wanna debate sword arts with me? I’ll crush you.

└ Heavenly Demon) Foolish. Fine. I shall initiate contact.

└ Passing Dwarf) Can I do this via proxy? I know a guy who crafts insane armor.

└ Wild Grylls) Yeah do whatever you want. But do you need a Mature Mandrake? Steeping booze again?

└ Passing Dwarf) That’s part of it, but a buddy of mine keeps nagging me for a glass, which is annoying. Wouldn’t it be better to just give him one?

└ Wild Grylls) Suit yourself. As long as I get shoes, I’m good.

└ Passing Dwarf) OK, but when’s the deadline?

└ Wild Grylls) The sooner the better. For now, I think I’ll need at least 2 pairs?

└ Passing Dwarf) OK, got it.

└ I Will Become a Duke) Will you truly offer a Mature Mandrake as the prize?

└ Wild Grylls) I don’t have anything else to give. Or should I give you the crab I’m roasting right now?

└ I Will Become a Duke) No, that is fine. I shall obtain them as quickly as possible.

└ Wild Grylls) Thank you.

└ I Will Become a Duke) By any chance, if there are shoes with performance superior to the selected pair, would you be willing to accept them as well?

└ Wild Grylls) Honestly, this is closer to a trade, so as long as I like it, it doesn’t matter.

└ I Will Become a Duke) Understood.

Curiously dignified tone of speech. The nickname looks ambitious too.

In a way, it’s close to an event, but practically it’s a transaction. A clear exchange of giving and taking.

Not having shoes doesn’t mean I won’t explore. There are still many places to explore.

However, I plan to avoid it if possible. Given the memory of almost dying yesterday, caution is necessary.

Crackle! Snap!

"Is it cooked... Ah hot hot hot hot!"

The moment I poked it with a finger to check if it was done, an enormous heat surged.

Good thing I pulled my hand away immediately; otherwise, I would have burned myself.

I put on gloves and pulled out the appetizingly cooked crab.

Even though it’s clearly a normal crab, its size surpassed a king crab, so there would be plenty of meat.

’First, the legs.’

One of the tastiest parts: the legs. I sliced off a leg section with my knife.

With a crisp snap!, the crab leg was severed.

Next, I sliced the side with a knife and slowly opened it up, steam billowing forth.

"Woah."

Look at this firm, juicy meat. Just looking at it made my mouth water instantly.

I wonder how it tastes. I sprinkled salt, but didn’t add any other seasonings.

Since I could get burned, I blew on it gently—whoosh whoosh.

"Munch. Munch. Haa."

It’s seriously delicious. I only added salt, yet it’s packed with umami.

It didn’t even smell fishy, so I could eat it effortlessly. For a split second, the crabs blanketed all over the lake flashed across my mind.

Crack!

"Kiyaa!"

As expected, with crabs, you gotta pop the shell off.

I gasped at the sight of the innards revealed after prying off the shell.

Regretting that it was roasted instead of steamed lasted only a moment. I decided to eat quickly.

’I thought the innards would be fishy, but they aren’t?’

The innards were tasty too. A superb flavor with nothing lacking.

After finishing off the innards, I broke off a leg. This portion was for Wonmo.

"Wonmo. I’ll give you more later, so eat this for now."

"Kkuyu!"

"Bbareumbo, want some too?"

"..."

Speed Sloth gestured to give him some. I cut off a leg and handed it to him as well.

Speed Sloth accepted the leg without any suspicion, then began flailing his arms.

Judging by how his usually drowsy eyes popped wide open, he must have been quite shocked.

’Yeah. It’s gotta be really hot.’

I wore gloves, but Speed Sloth used his bare hands.

Since this bastard had been pranking me all this time, a revenge of this scale was nothing.

I snickered.

Smack!

Except this bastard threw it right back at me. Hit me straight in the face.

The combo of a sloth’s strong shoulders and a burning hot crab leg.

Right after the pain, an intense heat flared up.

"Gaaaaah!"

Just you wait, you punk.

While Grylls was happily doing a crab mukbang.

"I assume you have also seen the post on the Gallery."

"Does that mean..."

"Hurry and bring the craftsmen. As fast as possible."

"Yes, Your Highness!"

A subtle current began to flow through the world.
