As of today, I officially declare Speed Sloth and Wonmo as fans of Chaemes United.
Re: Speed Sloth looks like he fucking hates it lolololol
Re: Wonmo just looks completely bewildered lol so fucking cute lol
Re: Why does it suit them so well lollll
Re: Did Princess Chaenggu give you a kid-sized one too?
Re: Wild Grylls) Yeah, it felt weird for me to wear it, so I just put it on them. I’ll take it off if they hate it.
Re: Ah. The whole world is Chaeyu...
Re: Starlight Lady) Should I raise an owlbear too? It’s so cute...!
Re: Wild Grylls) You just have to feed them well. And they really are cute.
Re: Starlight Lady) I want to raise one and name him Fitness Novice.
Re: Wild Grylls) Excuse me, Lady?
"Kukuku."
Kaylin, the Princess of Mephisto, let out a satisfied chuckle as she looked at the post Grylls had uploaded.
She usually maintained a haughty attitude, but that was only in public.
On the Gallery, where she could express all her emotions, she was not much different from anyone else.
"It really is cute. Just look at that chubby body."
Even she couldn’t resist cute things. In fact, almost no one ever insulted Wonmo.
Insult Wonmo? If you did, you had to be prepared to be showered with every curse word imaginable.
It was to the point where some users clamored for him to post photos of Wonmo instead of Grylls.
’With this, he won’t have to worry about clothes for the time being.’
There was no grand reason why she had given Grylls the uniforms.
Uniforms were so common they practically rolled around underfoot, and she was personally interested in Grylls.
As a princess, she had been showered with all kinds of sweet talk throughout her life.
She could easily distinguish whether spoken words were true or false.
’It’s been a long time since I’ve felt such sincerity through mere words.’
There were quite a few reasons why Kaylin had taken a liking to Grylls.
For one, he sincerely cheered for Chaeyu, whom she supported, and his attitude of trying to repay her somehow was impressive.
Especially when she told him he didn’t need to repay her, he even fidgeted like a puppy that needed to relieve itself.
Every single one of these actions left a good impression on Kaylin.
Even on the Gallery, where anonymity was guaranteed, Grylls was polite and well-mannered.
’Is it because he’ll be in danger if he doesn’t win people over?’
Perhaps that was the case.
Once he escaped the Forest of the Four Seasons, he might wipe his mouth clean and ignore everyone.
But even that didn’t matter. It meant that, at least while he was in the Forest of the Four Seasons, he would remain a good person.
’But it is strange. Is he really from another world?’
Aside from that, she couldn’t help but be interested in Grylls.
Grylls had once mentioned that he came from another world. At the time, she had dismissed it as a mere persona.
Kaylin, too, had believed it was just a persona. Moreover, Grylls possessed knowledge related to sports.
She had thought it was a persona because of that, but the proposal he brought forward was truly astonishing.
’A tournament based on one’s home territory, rather than clubs founded based on local affiliations. And once every four years?’
The tournament Grylls had mentioned, the World Cup. This part weighed on Kaylin’s mind.
He had explained it as if the tournament actually existed. She couldn’t help but pay attention.
’The pride of representing one’s territory. The honor gained by defeating those representatives. The rarity of holding it once every four years. These are incredibly attractive cards just to hear about.’
There was once a tournament being pushed forward in Mephisto.
A proposal to form representatives for each race and hold a global sports tournament.
It received a fairly great response, but was canceled for various reasons.
Not only were the differences between races too vast, but the pressure was also too immense.
The competition was beyond fierce—it was murderous—and even if one broke through that competition, they would inevitably become entangled with politics.
It was an honor no different from a poisoned chalice. Thus, it fizzled out and disappeared.
’It would also receive a massive response from humans.’
While humans have an infinitely low floor, their ceiling is high enough to pierce the heavens.
This applied to sports as well, and currently, numerous humans were playing as athletes.
Even in Mephisto, it was common for human players to transfer and play exceptionally active roles.
However, due to aging from their short lifespans, their prime is relatively brief. This is unavoidable.
Instead, with just that brief impact, they swept every award imaginable, bruising the pride of the Demon Race day by day.
Had they not recently lost in a tournament where clubs from each nation faced off against one another?
While the Demon Race and Elves go long and thin, humans go short and thick. This story is hosted at novelping(.)com.
’Did he really come from another world?’
At first, she had dismissed it as nonsense, but there were more than one or two suspicious points.
The fact that he could use the Gallery in the Forest of Chaos, and his knowledge of various things.
’Even if that’s the case, the fact that he’s a Chaeyu fan doesn’t change.’
Her suspicions began to snowball, but Kaylin quickly let them go.
She wanted to have a deeper conversation with Grylls, but his survival was more important.
It would break her heart if a fellow Chaeyu fan died in vain.
’I wish those bastards from the Medes family knew about Grylls too.’
How great would it be if the Medes family fully supported Grylls?
If that happened, Grylls’s survival rate would skyrocket, and they would also see a solid advertising effect.
But the Medes family only cared about making money; they wouldn’t give a damn about someone like Grylls.
’I’d love to pressure them if I could... but damn politics.’
Kaylin shook her head.
Sports, including football, are infinitely lighthearted to those who enjoy them.
But the deeper you dig, the more complex and dirty they become.
That was why Kaylin chose to enjoy it rather than dig deep.
Even with that mindset, watching Chaeyu’s matches made her blood boil, but that was a universal truth.
Getting angry because the team you support is absolute trash is a universal truth across all nations and races.
’Please, just don’t lose helplessly. Or at least score a single goal.’
Kaylin recalled the upcoming match. Their opponent was Reor, whom she couldn’t stand the sight of.
The difference in strength between Reor, who had reborn as a powerhouse, and the plummeting Chaeyu was stark.
But since football always showed unpredictability, she held a sliver of hope.
’I should say I’m going into mental cultivation in two days.’
There was one good thing about falling in love with sports. You didn’t need to do separate mental cultivation.
Watching sports was mental cultivation itself, so why would she need anything else? Kaylin thought as she walked.
"Hmm?"
"Ah."
As she walked down the hallway, she ran straight into someone.
The blue skin and inverted eyes unique to the Demon Race. The horns growing from his head.
And finally, an appearance that left nothing to be desired to be called a handsome man.
"I greet you, Royal Father."
Kaylin politely offered her greetings with proper etiquette.
The being notorious to the world as the Demon King, Asmode.
He was Kaylin’s biological father and reigned as the King of Mephisto.
"Yes, Kaylin. Is everything well with you?"
"What could possibly happen to me? Every day is just the same routine."
"I see. Where are you heading?"
"I was planning to prepare for the mental cultivation that will take place in two days."
I’m going to watch the Chaeyu match in two days. That was Kaylin’s inner thought.
Asmode nodded upon hearing those words and spoke in a stiff tone.
"It seems the days you spend on mental cultivation have increased significantly of late. Is there perhaps something weighing on your mind?"
"Compared to you, Royal Father, who bears the responsibility of Mephisto’s decisions day after day, my worries are infinitely trivial."
Chaeyu plays so fucking terribly. It’s so frustrating I feel like I’m going to die.
Kaylin screamed inwardly once more.
Asmode nodded at her words and offered comforting words.
"Do not push yourself too hard. Before you are a princess, you are my daughter. If you ever need help, speak to me at any time."
"Thank you for your kind words. However..."
Kaylin stared blankly at Asmode’s face.
Perhaps because things had been going well recently, his expression was considerably relaxed.
In the past, he had worn a stiff expression every single day, which had been incredibly terrifying.
Moreover, just like Kaylin now, he used to be busy doing mental cultivation every day.
"Have you achieved enlightenment, Royal Father? It seems the days you spend on mental cultivation have decreased."
"Indeed. With Mephisto and all, only good things have been happening, so my mind has found peace."
"I see."
I’m jealous. I’m so jealous.
While someone’s insides were festering day by day, someone else had achieved enlightenment.
Yet, she didn’t think it was unfair. After all, the responsibility lay with Kaylin herself.
’It’s my own sin for being a Chaeyu fan, I suppose.’
She had absolutely no intention of taking her anger out on someone innocent.
"Then I hope you achieve good growth."
"Thank you, Royal Father. What will you be doing, Royal Father?"
"I also have training in two days. Perhaps it will be the most important training of all."You are reading on novelping . com, the official source.
"If it is you, Royal Father, you will surely achieve great results."
"Thank you for the kind words. I shall take my leave now."
Asmode patted Kaylin’s shoulder twice as he passed by.
Kaylin watched his retreating back before walking away as well.
’If they lose this time too...’
Just imagining it was horrifying. Surely, an immense amount of mockery would flood the Gallery.
Furthermore, the one she was most concerned about was Grylls. Wouldn’t he be disappointed after seeing Chaeyu’s terrible performance?
She could already picture another fixed-handle user, especially King Reor, gently tempting him once he noticed that disappointment.
Re: King Reor-nim) Why don’t you support our Reor instead of a team like that? I’ll even give you a uniform.
Re: Wild Grylls) Thank you. Actually, I’ve been a fan of Reor for a long time.
Re: King Reor) Now, shout it out. What is Chaeyu?
Re: Wild Grylls) Mid-table is their limit?
Re: King Reor) Excellent!
’Absolutely not that!’
How could she keep Grylls as a Chaeyu fan?
Kaylin maintained an expressionless face on the outside while agonizing on the inside.
No matter how high-ranking she was, in the end, she was just another sports fan.
’I’ll watch to see if you change your mind.’
Without Grylls even knowing, Kaylin’s test had begun.
’What is this? Something feels off.’
I looked around. But no matter where I looked, all I could see were trees.
I wondered if a beast was hiding and glaring at me, but I couldn’t find anything.
Seeing that Speed Sloth showed no reaction either, it must have been my imagination.
’Let’s see. How well did it turn out?’
There was something more important than that. The tripod I had crafted while reading Starlight Lady’s post.
It was time to check if all the meat hung on that tripod had finished smoking.
Smoking could take as little as one to two hours, or at most around ten hours.
Since time was of the essence for me, I chose a method that raised the temperature slightly.
"Wow. Look at that color."
First of all, the color was a passing grade. The unique hue of smoked meat was one thing, but the smell was absolutely fantastic.
Wondering if it was cooked all the way through, I tore the meat in half, and it was cooked to a perfect golden brown.
The inside was also a passing grade, but the most important thing was the taste.
Even though there was still time left until dinner, a single bite should be fine.
"Nyam."
I took a bite of the smoked tiger meat.
They say carnivores usually have a gamey smell, but perhaps because it was smoked, I couldn’t smell it at all.
Or maybe it was just because I could eat anything.
The taste wasn’t bad either. In particular, the juices flowed abundantly, making the texture excellent.
"Nueueueu...! Pooh! Pooh!"
Instead, it was incredibly salty.
Since I had salted it before smoking, it couldn’t be helped.
’It’ll be hard for Wonmo to eat this.’
Raw meat would be much better for Wonmo.
I hung the fully smoked food inside the cave.
Since the cave was relatively cool, the inside was better than the outside.
’I need to cook the other meat too.’
There was still a lot left to smoke. My hands and feet were exceptionally busy today.
As I finished doing everything I needed to do, the sun set before I knew it, and evening arrived.
Dinner would be the smoked dish I made today. A single chunk would be more than enough.
"Wonmo, let’s eat."
"Kkyuu!"
As it was mealtime, Wonmo also approached with his eyes shining brightly.
Wonmo, wearing the kid-sized uniform, was cute beyond imagination.
Just looking at him made me want to hug him tight. I think I understand why people dress up their pets.
’As for Speed Sloth...’
Since Speed Sloth seemed to hate it, I took it off him immediately.
If I hadn’t, he probably would have ripped it to shreds—jjwaak! jjwak!—with his claws.
Anyway, I was able to spend another rewarding day.
Tomorrow, I have to catch crabs for the dwarf and plan to explore various places.
’If I progress little by little like this, I’ll eventually find a clue, right?’
Holding onto a tiny sliver of hope, I fell asleep.
Completely unaware of what would happen the next day.
