Theme Park.
A place filled with children’s dreams and hope, and a location where memories could be made.
Fairy tales, cartoons, movies, and so on. A place where characters from numerous media appeared in reality to protect children’s innocence.
An entertainment space where countless rides existed and tremendous crowds of tourists gathered depending on its scale.
A theme park didn’t necessarily have rides, and conversely, an amusement park wasn’t necessarily a theme park.
However, the fact that it was a place overflowing far more with happiness than despair remained unchanged.
I also went to theme parks quite a few times with my parents in the past. Holding my mom’s hand in one hand and my dad’s hand in the other.
And the moment I entered a haunted attraction, I pitched a fit to leave. I still remember it vividly.
’I thought it might be somewhere, but...’
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine it would be right near the shelter.
Well, the forest I was in was a place where space was tangled up every which way, so it wasn’t incomprehensible.
I felt that the nearby lake might also have been part of the theme park in some way.
Looking at the theme park with the Ferris wheel standing out in the distance, I turned my head elsewhere.
Theme parks naturally tend to turn exceedingly dreary once closed, but merged with the surrounding nature, it evoked a subtle feeling.
[Heavenly Demon] It is a structure I have never seen before. What is that thing shaped like a windmill?
"It’s called a Ferris wheel. You go inside and look at the view outside."
[Sword Matstar] How did they construct something like that? Just looking at it, it’s no less grand than the Imperial Palace.
[Allfather] It looks as if the hanging parts could fall off at any moment.
[Don’t Abandon the Hero] Somehow it feels like it must have been a wonderful facility in the past!
Everyone chimed in with a word or two about the existence of the theme park. I contemplated what to do.
Deep down, I wanted to step inside the theme park, but the past held me back.
The city left behind by Alund, the deity slaughtered by Aris.
The moment we finished watching the records left by that city, it switched attitudes like a razor and threatened us.
The reason was exceedingly simple: the existence of Tyranno. It had even transformed into a Colossus to kill Tyranno.
"Master. Will that thing transform into a giant too?"
"Weeeell... who knows? Wouldn’t we have to go see for ourselves?"
"I’m scared, Master."
Perhaps due to memories of taking a heavy beating from the Colossus, Lackey also found it uncomfortable.
Only Dolsoe, who wasn’t around back then, had a calm expression. Most of the others expressed reluctance to enter.
However, that didn’t mean we could just stand by and watch. We needed to find even a trace of clues to formulate a plan.
’Just in case, I should hide Tyranno well.’
I grabbed an empty ordinary backpack among those hanging like luggage on Largo.
Now wearing this myself, I asked Tyranno to get inside.
"Even if it’s stuffy, hang in there for a bit, okay?"
"Pik!"
"Since I’ll endure it, I’m asking for something delicious later."
"I’ll give you as much as your heart desires."
Even if it was somewhat cramped, it was an unavoidable choice.
Last time, we survived thanks to Vanir’s timely assistance, but expecting a miracle like that again was nonsensical, so preventing trouble in advance was the right call.
"Dad. I want to go in too."
"Won’t it be stuffy?"
"I’m gonna play inside together with Tyranno."
Since Wonmo wanted it, it couldn’t be helped. I put Wonmo into the backpack as well.
Since it was a regular backpack and not a Subspace Backpack, his head popped right out!
"Mmm. I can’t resist this."
I immediately snapped a photo and posted it to the Gallery. Naturally, reactions calling it cute erupted.
Strolling along the lakeside had left them covered in mud, and because they were naturally adorable kids to begin with, it felt even more so.
"And before we go, let’s eat first."
Before stepping into the theme park, I quickly wrapped up lunch.
Actually, there was still time left until lunch, but expecting the exploration to take long, I decided to take care of it in advance.
As time passed and our bellies were comfortably full, we immediately shifted our steps toward the entrance of the theme park.
"Master. Is that the entrance over there?"
"Right. Originally you’re supposed to present a ticket here..."
[Welcome, growing saplings of hope.]
"...or so I thought."Find the original chapter at NovelPing.
Who just spoke? I was about to boldly pass through the entrance when I paused at the sound piercing my ears.
Turning my head at this, the knights standing on both sides of the entrance were raising their swords.
I thought they wouldn’t operate since long ages had passed without maintenance, but it was a miscalculation.
"Uh... Hello? Who are you, though?"
[We are the Knights of Valhalla. The sword and shield of the Sovereign.]
[What?!]
The one surprised was not me, but Cain. Thanks to that, I was even more startled.
"If it’s Valhalla... isn’t that a place from Norse mythology? Where great warriors go when they die."
[To be precise, it is the knight order directly under Lady Aris. The place every paladin dreams of.]
[Don’t Abandon the Hero] I heard that Heroes throughout history go to Valhalla, so it was real...?!
So it’s the name of a knight order from mythology. I nodded my head.
Perhaps the reason Cain was so surprised was because it was a place even he hadn’t been able to reach.
Honestly, for someone of Cain’s level, it wouldn’t be weird if he entered that Valhalla place or whatever.
However, this place was a theme park. It was nothing more than ’imitating’ numerous media.
"No need to make such a fuss. A theme park is close to an imitation after all."
[An imitation? What do you mean by that?]
"Hmm... Simply put, it’s easier to think of it as a play. Everyone appearing here is performing in a play."
[Ah... Was that it. How disappointing.]
Cain grew visibly crestfallen. He thought his faith was about to be proven right before his eyes, but it wasn’t the case at all.
But there was no need to be disappointed right away. Because we might obtain many things here.
"It’s too early to be disappointed. I heard most of the records of the gods have vanished, right? You might get them here."
[Indeed. Hurry up and enter.]
"Still, there’s no need to rush."
We still didn’t know what dangers might lurk here. We didn’t even know the layout.
Unless there was a pamphlet, since so much time had passed, nothing was certain.
Moreover, unlike the City of Alund, worn and ragged parts were visible here and there.
The knight robots that greeted us just now were closer to conditional reflexes, far from acting autonomously like an AI.
’By the way, the word "Sovereign" came up again. Who on earth is it?’
Just like the shipwreck discovered in the Land of Water, the title ’Sovereign’ came up again.
I didn’t know who it pointed to, but once we entered, we would find out.
’I don’t need to pay money, right?’
Testing the waters, I quietly passed through the entrance. Fortunately, there was no reaction even without paying an admission fee.
Thus welcomed into the theme park, a huge nameplate came into view as soon as we went inside.
"Earth... land? What kind of lazy name is this?"
Written in giant English letters was the theme park’s name: Earthland.
Whoever wrote it had a terrible sense of naming.
[Heavenly Demon] It is a name that feels mythical.
[Sword Matstar] Indeed. They said the gods came from a world called Earth, right?
[Don’t Abandon the Hero] A theme park of the gods...! What a wonderful name!
[Allfather] The Magic Tower’s name should have been named in such a manner as well, what a pity.
[Princess Chaenggu] It’s practically a name equal to Chaeyu~
[King Reor] No way, it’s a name comparable to Reor lol
But it seemed to feel different to the people of this world.
Well, it was a name derived from the world where the gods lived, so how could it not be cool?
I figured it was roughly similar to how I felt hearing the name ’Valhalla’.
’But why did they designate their own world as a theme park? Is there a reason?’
Harboring doubts only briefly, I thoroughly looked around the surroundings first.
Normally a theme park should be bustling with countless people coming and going, but with no one around, only a desolate atmosphere hung in the air.
Because of this, I couldn’t quite get a feel for where to look first.
’Would it be better to just wander wherever my feet take me?’
Deep in thought for only a moment, I walked over to Largo and pulled out a weapon.
Mistilteinn, which comes in handy when finding a path is ambiguous.
After setting Mistilteinn upright, I let go of my hand.
Deolgeureok—
"Okay. Let’s go that way."
I shifted my steps in the direction Mistilteinn fell. Before that, I checked Tyranno and Wonmo’s condition.Find the original chapter at novelping.com.
Just in case detecting Tyranno caused the entire theme park to turn hostile.
Unlike the City of Alund, it was barely maintained, but caution didn’t hurt.
Thus, as we strolled through the vast theme park, there was one fact we came to realize.
[Good heavens. Look at that! It’s the Knights of Valhalla!]
"I don’t know that knight order."
[As I said earlier, it’s the knight order directly under Lady Aris! Look at that painting!]
The first place I set foot in was an attraction modeled after Aris.
Although mascot costumes didn’t exist, there were robots instead. Knight robots showing prominent signs of rust from lack of maintenance.
But Cain seemed satisfied with just that, busy rejoicing like a young child.
A reaction similar to yet different from when he met Santa. I let out a smirk.
’By the way, those robots... rather than being rusted, it feels more like dust accumulated and hardened.’
Thinking that, I quietly approached the robot. The robot still stood motionless, holding a sword.
Since it wasn’t making any movement, the moment I unhesitatingly brought my hand to touch it...
[How dare you lay a hand upon the Sovereign’s knight!]
"Uheok?!"
The moment I touched it, a thunderous voice echoed out. Shocked out of my wits, I had no choice but to leap back.
The same went for the rest of our party. Everyone flinched at the thunderous shout.
"W-What was that just now, Master?"
"I-I don’t know either. It shouted when I touched it?"
Clutching my thumping heart, I looked around at the knight robots.
Standing loftily as if that thunderous shout earlier was a lie, the knight stood still.
’Wait, looking closely, it kind of resembles a Dullahan...?’
Other than missing a helmet, its overall body structure was similar to a Dullahan.
Trying my best to ignore the knight order, I headed toward the attraction.
These knights were ultimately entities closer to mascot costumes; the real deal would be over at the attraction.
And just as expected.
[I-Is that not a dragon?]
"It looks like it. But it’s not real."
A sight worthy of an attraction representing the Goddess of War, Aris, unfolded before our eyes.
As Cain said, a dragon existed, but it wasn’t real. It was a machine like the knight robots.
The level of reproduction was so outstanding that for a second I almost mistook it for real. If that operated, it would probably be in a battle format.
Of course, since it was a theme park for children, the opponent to fight would have been kids.
"Piiiik?"
Was it because dragons were mentioned? Tyranno, sticking just his face out from the backpack, showed interest.
Since there was nothing particularly dangerous in the current situation, I let him look to his heart’s content.
"Nothing much to see here either... Let’s head somewhere else now."
"Master. I think that thing moved."
Just as I was about to step away, Lackey spoke up.
Turning my head at this, I looked toward the mechanical dragon. There was no movement whatsoever.
"Just kidding."
"Why you little..."
Right around when Lackey was snickering...
[Grrrrrr...]
The mechanical dragon let out an ominous growl from its mouth, and then...
Hibeonteok!
It glared at us with crimson-red eyes.
"..."
"...Lackey."
"I’m sorry."
"Good fast apology."
Regardless of that.
[Kaaaaaaah!!!]
I didn’t know why on earth that guy went wild the moment it saw us.
