Chapter 72

I Got a Gallery in the Wild - Chapter 72

Browsing through the Gallery, one can frequently encounter interesting things.

Starting from completely meaningless shitposts to unexpectedly deep posts.

What this meant was that I could easily find the info I wanted, or conversely, strange things might pop up.

Furthermore, the Gallery wasn’t categorized into specific sub-boards; there was just one single forum, so the volume of posts was overwhelmingly massive.

’There are homonyms too, which makes it a headache.’

I searched for information regarding cores.

Just in case, I entered ’Guardian’s Core’ into the search box, but nothing useful came up.

The few useful bits of info were that the core was a very rare material and possessed exceptional magical value.

It explained that because the core itself was a massive chunk of mana, it had many uses in various ways.

’Should I just give this to Allfather or Starlight Lady too?’

Either way, from my position, it was troublesome to handle. It was huge, too.

They said an average Guardian’s core was about the size of a fist, but the one I took down was close to a basketball.

They said the bigger the core, the stronger the Guardian, so I was actually quite lucky.

’If it had been any other Guardian instead of Orichalcum, wouldn’t I have died?’

The Orichalcum Guardian had the trait of being sensitive to mana.

That acted as both a merit and a flaw, allowing me to barely clutch out a victory.

Staring blankly at the dark core that had lost its light, I scratched my head.

’First, let’s ask around.’

What was certain was that I had almost no use for it.

Can I absorb it like a Spiritual Medicine? Or carry it around like a crystal orb?

I can’t even play ball with it. It’s so hard that kicking it feels like it would shatter my bones.

At least it’s round so Wonmo might roll it well, but if I wanted that, I’d rather just buy a soccer ball.

Title) Want to get rid of a core.

Wild Grylls

(Photo of core with a hole pierced in the center)

This doesn’t seem particularly useful to me, anyone need it?

└ Heavenly Demon) What can be done with that?

└ Wild Grylls) I’m not sure either. Dwarf said it’s something similar to firewood?

└ Heavenly Demon) This seat does not appear to have much need for it.

└ Wild Grylls) Okay.

└ Sword Matstar) It’s easiest to think of a core as a top-grade battery.

└ Wild Grylls) How is it useful to me?

└ Sword Matstar) Pretty trash?

└ Wild Grylls) ;;;

└ Allfather) I don’t seem to particularly need it either. Research regarding cores is something I have already mastered, so it holds no meaning for me.

└ Wild Grylls) Would it be useful to me?

└ Allfather) Likely not. You neither possess machinery nor can you use magic, so it is a white elephant of sorts.

└ Wild Grylls) What about carrying it around to absorb when mana is low? Seems not bad.

└ Allfather) If it were small, perhaps, but because it is too large, that seems difficult. Still, it is not a bad option. You would have to repair it, though.

└ Wild Grylls) If I have to repair it too, it’s better to just give it away.

└ Starlight Lady) I also recently replaced my lab’s energy source, so I don’t think I need it. Had I known, I would have waited a few days, what a pity.

└ Wild Grylls) That’s a shame. Seems cores are pretty useful after all?

└ Starlight Lady) Because it’s a portable chunk of mana. Considering products like refrigerators consume quite a lot of mana, it’s quite good.

The evaluation was roughly like this: It’s a good item, but its uses are limited.

Buying it to use like a battery isn’t worth it, better off not buying it, etc.

It was truly a chicken rib—worthless to keep, a waste to discard. This made dealing with it even more troublesome.

’Is listing it on the auction house the best option...?’

Just as I was thinking that:

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Excuse me! If you don’t need the core, could I trade with you?

└ Why are you here?

└ He pops up occasionally.

└ What nonsense are you gonna spit now;;

Let’s Grow Trees made a proposal in a cheerful yet polite tone.

Why so suddenly, though?

Honestly, Let’s Grow Trees’ offer was completely unexpected.

’He’s someone who comments occasionally.’

Let’s Grow Trees was a fairly famous fixed handle. In a bad way, that is.

Judging solely by information circulating in the Gallery, an elf brimming with imperialistic mindset.

An elf who justifies territorial invasions, whether seriously or as a joke, no one could tell.

’Should I say he’s like the polar opposite of Orange Badge?’

Both were cheerful, but their public support, mindset, everything was complete opposites.

Perhaps because of that, I almost treated him with prejudice without realizing it, but I suppressed it.

Regardless, he was a fixed handle who wanted to trade for a core that was otherwise a pain to dispose of.

└ Wild Grylls) Trading is possible, but what can you give? If it’s trees or seeds, I’ll pass.

└ Let’s Grow Trees) How about a sapling from Alvenheim?

└ Wild Grylls) Trees are literally everywhere around me;;

└ Really wanna punch him hard in the solar plexus lol

└ Conscience isn’t broken, it just doesn’t exist at all?

└ Average Elf lol

Surely he wasn’t serious. I prayed it was just a gimmick.

The Gallery was a place overflowing with roleplayers running gimmicks.

If that wasn’t a gimmick, that would be a serious problem in its own right.

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Then it can’t be helped. How about a bow, then?

└ Wild Grylls) I have a crossbow. Don’t really need one.

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Didn’t you mention before that your people are skilled archers?

└ Wild Grylls) Not all Elves are good at archery, right?

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Ah. That makes sense immediately. Got it! Then how about cigars made from World Tree leaves?

└ Wild Grylls) Cigars? Wait, tobacco?

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Yes!

I was completely flabbergasted by how confidently he suggested swapping a core for cigars.

I wasn’t worried about the smell. Since I already smoked meat, a cigarette smell was nothing.

However, seeing him propose trading for tobacco so proudly moved past absurdity into curiosity.

└ Wild Grylls) Seeing you talk so proudly, it must be something good?

└ It is good. One of Alvenheim’s main specialties.Find the original chapter at novelping . com.

└ Would you believe it if I said it’s a healthy cigar? Better than most medicinal herbs.

└ Wild Grylls) Where in the world is there a healthy cigar?

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Right here!

I couldn’t really believe it. This was a world with less advanced civilization compared to Earth.

Occasionally some fields rivaled or surpassed Earth, but there were many deficiencies.

Even on Earth, didn’t it take a long time to uncover the harmful effects of tobacco?

Even if made from World Tree leaves, it didn’t feel very reliable.

’Isn’t it just treated as luxury cigars?’

Searching the Gallery, it was indeed treated close to luxury cigars.

Occasional posts claimed it helped Mana Cultivation Methods or Mental Cultivation Methods, or could be used as incense, etc.

Post flooded in without a shred of credibility, so I ignored them all.

Anyway, to me, for whom survival was key, cigars—a luxury item—were close to another white elephant.

Above all, if I were a smoker, I would have bought it off the auction house myself.

└ Wild Grylls) Rather than those, I’d prefer an item that helps my survival.

└ Let’s Grow Trees) Then how about gloves?

└ Wild Grylls) What kind of gloves?

└ Let’s Grow Trees) World Tree Gloves! Gloves crafted from silk spun by silkworms fed on World Tree leaves.

└ Wild Grylls) Are they good?

└ Of course they’re good;; It’s World Tree, you know???

└ This guy is stuck in the forest so he knows nothing about the outside world lol

└ Even funnier because where he is might be even better lol

They seemed to be rare gloves beyond merely good.

I heard the explanation of the gloves’ performance.

Lighter than any other gloves, wearing them felt like wearing nothing, wouldn’t tear easily and extremely durable, etc.

Even the most miraculous ability was regeneration. If supplied with mana, it automatically repaired a certain amount of damage.

’That’s nice?’

For me who used my hands constantly, it would be a fantastic item.

I hadn’t mentioned it until now, but currently my hands were quite beat-up.

Logging, lighting campfires, cleaning fish, handling charcoal, sword practice, etc.

Doing all sorts of chores, there was never a time my hands were intact.

Although I had the gloves Passing Dwarf gave me, they were closer to budget grade.

Furthermore, because they were for rough work like combat or construction, it was difficult to wear them for work requiring precision.

’In a way, hands are more important than feet.’

Thinking this was good, I accepted Let’s Grow Trees’ proposal.

Since the core was close to a white elephant anyway, I just wanted to get rid of it immediately.

User Let’s Grow Trees has registered trade item(s).

Let’s Grow Trees

Thank you for the great trade!

Is there anything else you need?

Not really right now.

By the way, these are really good, right?

Let’s Grow Trees

I can assure you on my pride and dignity as an Elf!

Thank you.

Anyway, what are you planning to do with the core?

Let’s Grow Trees

I can’t reveal details, but I’ll be able to plant trees much more efficiently!

A combination of imperialist mindset and environmental activist.

It was a bizarre combo, like dog meat tanghulu.

Still, since he was someone who gave me big help, I intended to play along.

Do you like planting trees?

Let’s Grow Trees

Yes! Planting beautiful Alvenheim trees across the entire world!

That is my goal!

From what I hear, backlash seems severe... Is it really okay?

Let’s Grow Trees

No need to worry!

That’s why I’m even more worried. What on earth are the Elves of this world?

Usually Elves are symbols of nobility, but this guy is a total nuisance.

Of course, since it was info from the Gallery, I shouldn’t hold prejudice.

However, since the first Elf I traded with was like this, I couldn’t help being suspicious.

Let’s Grow Trees

Thank you so much for agreeing to the trade!

May the blessing of the World Tree be upon you!]

Thank you.

Well, he seems like a good person, so let’s let it slide.

Ending the transaction with Let’s Grow Trees, I checked the items.

"Huh?"

This person sent strange things too. And more than one or two.

I could let slide the bow made of luxurious materials. I could let slide the cigars I didn’t even know why he included.

However, the sapling with glistening green leaves potted in a planter was hard to just overlook.

’Unbelievable.’

Don’t tell me he gave this to me to plant.

I strongly felt his fierce determination to plant trees at all costs.

The bow and cigars were probably bribes for that.

Still, he gave proper gloves, so I had no complaints.

’Sure. I might plant it, but nature will grow it on its own.’

I checked the gloves Let’s Grow Trees gave me.

Overall, they looked like...

’...Isn’t this just a cotton work glove?’

They looked like cotton work gloves without the red rubber coating.

The difference was that the color was whiter and the texture looked softer. This chapter is updated first at nоvelping.com.

Looking at the strangely familiar gloves, I silently put them on.

’Not bad.’

The fit was extremely comfortable. Ventilation was good, so I could feel even a slight breeze.

Seemed like my hands wouldn’t get sweaty in the future. As much as I wanted to test other performance traits, I pushed it to later.

’He gave me 3 pairs of gloves.’

I heard they were super expensive and rare, but he’s generous.

Next to check were the cigars said to be made of World Tree leaves.

Appearance-wise, they were closer to cigars than standard cigarettes.

’He gave me plenty.’

A total of 5 cigars were stored inside a small wooden box.

It could be opened and closed repeatedly, and even had a compartment presumed to be an ashtray.

Lastly, I examined the bow with a fine hue and noble feel.

I pulled the bowstring to test its draw weight.

Utteuk!

"Huh?"

However, perhaps the draw weight was stronger than expected, it didn’t budge at all.

It reminded me of when I first received the crossbow from Dwarf.

"Geuaaaaat!"

Only after bellowing a shout did I barely pull it back all the way.

My physical strength had definitely grown since I first received the crossbow, yet it was this tough.

What kind of person is the Elf who uses this, especially Let’s Grow Trees?

’Aren’t archers agility builds?’

Or is the person who uses this bow a monster? I’m confused.

It seemed it would take a long time to become proficient with this bow.

When I finally master this, how adapted to this place will I be?

Praying that the day I master it never comes, I turned my head.

Where I turned my head, there stood the sapling carefully kept in a pot.

"... ."

Fine. Whatever, let’s plant it for him.

Posting proof isn’t hard anyway.

Title) Adopted one more pet.

Wild Grylls

(Photo of a surprisingly cute sapling)

User Let’s Grow Trees gifted me a cute sapling. Thank you.

└ Heavenly Demon) What manner of plant is that?

└ Wild Grylls) I don’t know. I just accepted what was given.

└ Heavenly Demon) It feels somewhat ominous, yet it is indeed pretty.

└ Wild Grylls) It’ll probably take forever to grow completely.

└ Sword Matstar) Since an Elf gave it, it wouldn’t be anything weird, right?

└ Wild Grylls) Are there weird plants too?

└ Sword Matstar) Of course. When man-eating plants exist, even.

└ Wild Grylls) shivers

└ Passing Dwarf) This bastard got something weird from a point-ear lol

└ Wild Grylls) What’s weird about a sapling? Still, he helped me, so I should do at least this much.

└ Passing Dwarf) Fine. Forest of the Four Seasons is a neutral zone anyway so nobody can touch it, guess it doesn’t matter.

└ But that knife-ear is persistent as hell lolol He actually ended up planting it.

└ Should I say he’s got grit, or venomous obsession;;

└ Knife-ear bastards are surprisingly stubborn lol

└ There’s someone who broke the stubbornness of those knife-ear elders?

└ Looking at this, Elf Queen is a crazy bitch too lol

"Heh. Good."

Golden hair shining as if woven from threads of pure gold.

Beautiful looks and pointed ears that served as hallmark traits of an Elf.

Green eyes that seemed to capture the very greenery of the forest.

And finally, body curves that couldn’t be hidden despite wearing an elegant dress.

"With this, a tree of Alvenheim has taken root in the Forest of the Four Seasons as well."

A certain Elf was expressing her satisfaction without restraint.

Her mature appearance exuded a fresh, maiden-like aura, radiating dizzying charm.

Knock knock knock-

[Your Majesty Queen. I have responded to your summons.]

Then someone knocked and spoke.

At this, the Elven woman closed the Gallery window and spoke softly.

"Come in."

A voice gentle and crystal clear.

As permission was granted, the door slowly opened, revealing another Elf.

"You have arrived."

"Yes, Your Majesty. But what brings..."

"Shall I say... the time has come to lay the foundation for the grand cause?"

"Pardon?"

The Elf widened her eyes at the Queen’s incomprehensible words.

Next, the Queen gazed down at the round orb sitting on her lap.

The core obtained from trading with Grylls moments ago. A core bearing the mark of being stabbed through the center by a sword.

The Elf Queen smiled deeply while looking at the core, then opened her mouth once more.

"Prepare the experiment immediately. Now that we have obtained an energy source."

"B-But the Elders..."

"... ."

"A-Ah, no! I will carry it out right away!"

The Elf cut herself off and hurriedly headed outside. It was practically fleeing.

At that, the Elf Queen wore a satisfied smile and declared softly:

"Make Alvenheim Great Again!"
