The GalWiki server we found in Large Field.
I had thought I might uncover all sorts of information there, but unfortunately, there wasn’t much to show for it.
To begin with, the data stored on GalWiki had ground to a halt in the distant past, and what was left on the server had clear limits.
Of course, the value of information depended entirely on how one used it.
I did my best to find some use for it, but regrettably, it came up far short.
’This is why AI is only as good as the person using it.’
Left with no other choice, I decided to pare down the questions for Wiki as much as possible.
That wasn’t to say I had gained nothing at all—specifically, the story regarding the previous Sword Saint, Friedrich.
Since Friedrich had served as the template for the clones, his profile was naturally registered on the GalWiki server.
’Full name: Friedrich Tesoro. Country of origin: Theros Kingdom. Height: 193 centimeters, weight: 73 kilograms. Bluish-silver hair and blue eyes.’
Starting from trivia like that, I found out just about everything, down to the most useless details.
According to official history, I heard Friedrich had remained fiercely loyal to the Theros Kingdom until its fall.
Supposedly, that was why he now rested peacefully in the communal cemetery of its successor state, the Messiah Empire.
’Left behind a double for the last descendant of the royal family and fled. Subsequently determined that restoring the dynasty was impossible. Married said descendant in a village and lived a cozy life together.’
At the end of it all, there was an unmistakable record stating that he had even achieved Ascension to Immortality.
He had remained loyal in more ways than one, so to speak. The man had truly lived an eventful life.
If not for Wiki, the world probably would have never known.
So, should I reveal this truth as it was?
’I’d better only bring it up when things can be handled.’
I had no idea how much chaos would erupt outside if I blabbed recklessly.
After everything I’d been through, I knew damn well that flapping my gums would only spell disaster.
Even the name of the village was recorded, making it all the trickier to talk about carelessly.
So I decided to sit on this information for now and focus on what was right in front of me.
First on the list was relocating all the residents of Large Field to my home and the goblin village.
Expanding the grounds around my house was tough, so the goblin village was the perfect fit.
I poured everything into the effort, and only after a full week had passed was the relocation finally complete.
[So the village was bustling for a while?]
"Yeah. We’re helping everyone settle in."
[Following right in the Sovereign’s footsteps, aren’t you? That’s exactly how the Sovereign gathered people back then.]
"How many did he end up gathering in the end?"
[Who knows? It was enough to form an army at the very least, so quite a lot, wouldn’t you say?]
Come to think of it, I’d heard the world had devolved into a chaotic free-for-all right after Manatology collapsed.
In that era, with Aris and Aragon leading the charge, they’d scraped together every living soul they could find.
[By the way, is the booze there any good?]
"Honestly, it doesn’t hold a candle to what we have here."
[You still should’ve brought some. It was a chance to try something new. Where’s your sense?]
"..."
Why the hell was I being scolded by a drunken robot?
It was absurd, but knowing that was just how he was, I let it slide.
[What’re you gonna do now? You said you found Wiki’s server, right?]
"Still looking for the Gallery server, of course. Not that I have any clue where it is."
A sigh slipped out on its own.
I was busting my ass trying to find the Gallery server, but it always felt just out of reach.
Selena was researching it steadily, but I couldn’t help feeling stranded.
’I heard she’s inventing some machine lately, but who knows if it’ll pan out.’
I heard it was something like a sap extractor.
Supposedly, the idea was to use it to backtrack the Gallery server.
That seemed like it would take a while, so for now, pounding the pavement was my only option.
"Do you know anything about GalWiki?"
[Course I do. My info’s probably on there too, isn’t it?]
"Saw that right away. Under ’Controversies and Incidents,’ moonshining was listed in big, bold letters."
[Out of everything, you had to look at that? How embarrassing.]
"Didn’t the Sovereign scold you?"
[I got slapped with a one-week drinking ban.]
Lucas shuddered as if the mere thought was horrifying, yet he still chugged his beer.
Man... I couldn’t even begin to fathom just how much he loved booze.
[Anyway, now that GalWiki’s unlocked, you’d better watch your back for a while.]
"What do you mean? Because of information gathering?"
[That spearhead.]
Lucas nodded toward it.
He was pointing right at the Wedge clutched in my hand—the dark spearhead.
Originally, it had been wedged into the World Tree of Large Field, sucking out its mana.
[As you’ve probably guessed, it’s a piece of the weapon the Sovereign used. Looks like someone detached just the blade.]
"I figured as much. Where could the rest of it have gone?"
[You’ll have to find that out on your own. Well, that piece alone should still be plenty useful.]
"Could you tell me what the original looked like? If I find the rest later, I should at least put it together."Visit NovelPing for the full chapter.
[Hold on a second.]
Before long, Lucas drew a sketch of the weapon’s original form and showed it to me.
Just as he’d mentioned before, it looked like a blend of a sword and a spear, and its very shape apparently shifted according to the wielder’s will.
Naturally, the only person who had ever wielded this weapon was the Sovereign—in other words, the Chief God.
[In a way, it’s a weapon that goes hand in hand with wielding mana freely. Why don’t you give it a spin?]
"What, are you trying to turn me into a mummy?"
[If you turn into a mummy, I’ll personally pour you a drink.]
What a morbid thing to say.
Lucas chuckled and casually sipped his beer.
I gave him an incredulous look before letting out a soft chuckle.
It was precisely because he was always like this that I felt comfortable around him.
[Anyway, take some beer if you need it. You’ve gotta give some to those dragonfolk—or whatever they are—too.]
"Guess you don’t hold any hard feelings against the dragonfolk? From your perspective, Lucas-ssi, they’re the descendants of people you were beating the crap out of just yesterday."
[If they like beer, they’re good folks in my book. That’s all that matters.]
A strange way to put it, but fair enough.
After shooting the breeze with Lucas for a bit, I headed back home.
Most of the Large Field residents had moved to the goblin village, but some were still here.
And what, exactly, were they doing at my house?
Strum, strum~ Plink~
"This isn’t~ right~ My heart didn’t~ mean this~"
"What I prepared~ for you~"
"..."
As you can see, they were belting out a song with all their might.
Even back in Large Field, there had been grasshoppers... no, buskers, so I could’ve just brushed it off.
"Pee-yoong! Pee-pee-yoong! Pee-yoo-oong!"
"Ah. Did we make a mistake?"
"Pee-yoo-oong! Pee-yoo-oong!"
"He says your pitch dropped too low."
...If only they weren’t taking lessons from Maengkkongi, that is.
Maengkkongi sat atop a large boulder instructing the residents, and the dragonfolk listened with rapt attention.
Maengkkongi’s singing skills were genuinely outstanding, and the residents had never been taught by anyone before.
They were the perfect teacher and students for one another.
On top of that, Maengkkongi’s talent was recognized even on the Gallery.
’Didn’t they say he even had a fan club?’
I glanced back and forth between Maengkkongi, peeping enthusiastically as he taught, and the residents hanging on his every sound.
It blew my mind every single time, from the very first day until now, but I just rolled with it.
Besides, taking lessons from Maengkkongi was child’s play compared to what else was going on.
"Now! Today, I shall explain what power the sacred World Tree bestows upon us!"
"Oooh."
"Before that, does anyone have any questions?"
"I heard that everything from the World Tree except the roots is good for the body—is that true?"
"Of course it’s true."
Just look at that.
There was Elia, praising the World Tree with utter delight.
A glint of madness was even beginning to creep into the eyes of the residents listening to her lecture.
The real problem was that, objectively speaking, there was nothing wrong with Elia’s lessons.
Why? Because her teaching contained nothing but the absolute truth, without a single lie.
’Captivating people like that purely through tone and gestures... She really is a natural talent.’
Fortunately, I’d put a stop to antics like planting trees before they got out of hand.
There was no telling what kind of disaster would strike if someone started planting trees around here, after all.
Elia knew this as well, so despite her disappointment, she humbly accepted it.
’It really feels like being a safety manager watching over a construction site.’
Every time I looked at something, I’d wear a stunned expression or shake my head in disbelief.
I wanted to say something, but with so many things piled on top of each other, I had the mindset of someone who’d just thrown in the towel.
Of course, it wasn’t all bad.
"Master. Heading to the library."
"Going to borrow books again?"
"No. Bringing back the people there now."
In Large Field, reading was taboo unless the book was provided directly by the Elders.
As a result, many had developed a burning interest in books, and Alex’s Library received massive attention.
Conveniently, everyone knew the Holy Kingdom language, making it wildly popular.
’I just hope they aren’t picking up any weird ideas.’
Well, that was a problem to deal with in due time.
The residents wouldn’t stay in the goblin village forever anyway; they’d have to leave someday.
More importantly, I still had a fairly significant matter to attend to.
"Do you really want to go exploring?"
"Of course! That’s why I paid such close attention during the lessons!"Enjoying the story? Read on at NovelPing.
Namely, Miren’s spirit of adventure.
Even back in Large Field, he’d burned with a passion for adventure.
Once he gained his freedom, that desire grew even fiercer, and he pleaded incessantly to go out on an expedition.
’It’s about time I went exploring again anyway.’
Having had a decent break, taking Miren along on an expedition didn’t sound half bad.
I couldn’t just let Miren wander around alone, either—this was the Forest of the Four Seasons.
There were still plenty of areas just as perilous as the fog zones of Large Field.
Even I hadn’t explored every area, so I had no choice but to be cautious.
"All right. But you have to listen to me, got it? Like I’ve said time and again, there are plenty of areas even I don’t know."
"Of course."
"Then what’s the number one thing you need to watch out for?"
"A small animal wandering alone."
"Good. Perfect."
Keep that in mind, and you’ve basically mastered the Forest of the Four Seasons.
Big bastards usually relied on pure bulk to bulldoze their way through.
There were exceptions with bizarre abilities like Rudolph, but those guys were outliers.
"With that said, Dolsoe. You’re coming with me."
"Understood."
"Want to come along too, Wonmo?"
"Kyuu!"
Lackey couldn’t leave his post since he was guiding the residents.
And for Wonmo, coming along was better than lazing around here.
"Elia, you come too."
"Pardon? But I still have work left to do..."
"That’s exactly why."
We were only planning to go out to the front yard, so to speak, so dividing up the headcount wasn’t an issue.
Besides, Elia could use Teleport, making an emergency escape possible if needed.
After stressing the safety rules to Miren once more, we set out on the expedition.
It was just a simple sweep to see if there were any medicinal herbs or rare items lying around, nothing more.
"Ah. Only use the World Tree branch for combat. Understood?"
"Yes!"
While we were at it, I snapped off a branch from the World Tree to boost our party’s firepower.
└ Heavenly Demon) It has been quite some time since your last video.
└ Sword Matstar) Something fun will happen today too, right?
└ Don’t Abandon the Hero) Hello!
└ Passing Dwarf) What happened to the lizards?
└ Suspiciously...) Now that is an extremely racist remark.
└ Passing Dwarf) And calling a dwarf a midget is fine?
The moment the live stream started, the fixed nicks began bickering.
I tossed them a quick greeting and kept moving.
"By the way, Grylls-nim, sometimes you talk to thin air. What’s that about?"
"Just a thing."
I hadn’t revealed the existence of the Gallery to the dragonfolk yet.
Partly because there were too many residents to keep track of, and partly because their sense of economics wasn’t exactly great.
Even Lackey hadn’t realized his mistakes until he read a book on economics.
’Still, I can’t keep it hidden forever.’
Fortunately, Miren had high trust in me and didn’t pry any further.
"All right, Wonmo. Go wherever you feel like going today."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Anywhere with an interesting scent is fine."
"Yay~"
At my words, Wonmo bounced excitedly and dashed forward, with Miren hurrying after him.
Dolsoe and I kept watch on our surroundings just in case, trailing behind them.
Fortunately, whether due to my presence or not, no other beasts ambushed us.
"Daddy! There’s a weird place here!"
"There’s a strange area over here!"
Instead, we simply found a new area.
Perhaps because it was a route we usually didn’t take, it was an area even I had never discovered.
And that area...
"What is this?"
"Uh... beats me?"
For some reason, was entirely covered in sawdust.
"Is that... a mountain?"
"Uh... probably?"
A mountain made of sawdust filled my field of vision.
’Where the hell is this place?’
This place really was like an onion.
