It was common knowledge that every race had its own unique traits, and dragons were no exception.
Dragons lived far longer than typical long-lived races, and the boredom that came with that lifespan piled up endlessly.
To relieve that boredom, they often indulged in mortal Amusements, and the essential tool for those Amusements was Polymorph.
Allfather was doing something similar right now, but it fell far short of true Polymorph, and the underlying principle was different to begin with.
A dragon’s Polymorph changed not just outward appearance, but voice, touch, racial traits, and everything else.
Everything could be touched just like the real thing, making it impossible to tell whether someone was a dragon or not.
That set it apart from similar disguise magic, which was closer to a mirror’s reflection and couldn’t be touched.
Streeeetch—
"Daaaddy."
"Go ahead."
"Why’re you pullin’ on my cheeeek?"
Because I wanted to see if this cheek was real or not.
I gently tugged on the cheek of Tyranno, who looked like a girl of seven or eight.
Soft and squishy, it felt just like the baby fat of a child that age.
’Polymorph really is incredible.’
People didn’t say it was impossible to tell them apart for nothing.
In fact, a Polymorphed form was essentially a second body.
Dolos had also reverted to his true form to stop the floating island from crashing down before returning to his human shape.
Even if it was just to boost his regenerative efficiency, it proved he considered it as much his body as his original one.
’Maybe that’s why they get so swallowed up in playing the role.’
I gently let go of Tyranno’s squishy cheek.
Tyranno rubbed her cheek with both hands, stealing glances at me.
She looked like she was trying to read my mood, and seeing that cute little face melted my heart.
"By the way, Tyranno. Why do you call me Dad?"
"’Cause Wonmo calls you Dad?"
"I see."
"Why?"
"Just because it’s cute."
"Heheh."
Tyranno’s bright smile was downright adorable.
It felt similar to Wonmo yet distinctly different, putting my mind at ease.
"Did you learn this magic from your mom, too?"
"Mm-hm!"
Not just a plain yes, but an adorable little "Mm-hm."
And she spoke fluent Korean, to boot.
We always spoke Korean around the house, so it wasn’t weird that she could speak it.
"When did you learn it?"
"A while ago! But I only used it now!"
"What were you planning to do after learning it?"
"To play."
"Where?"
"In the house!"
Playing inside was fine by me.
But Vanir herself had warned that she’d cause all sorts of trouble.
Well, if she was only causing mischief inside the house, it didn’t really matter.
It wasn’t like there was any shortage of people making messes around here already.
Bang!
"Aaaagh!"
Case in point.
A bomb-like explosion echoed from the kitchen—the center of the house—and I turned my head.
Over there, oil was bubbling furiously, and Lackey was flailing in a panic after making it explode.
As I watched, wondering what on earth had happened, Dolsoe rushed over.
"What happened, brother?"
"Th-The oil blew up...!"
"Why did it explode?"
"I was trying to fry some rice cakes..."
He’d gone and made a rice-cake grenade.
Pop! Bang!
They were still popping off even now.
To make matters worse, splattering oil was hitting the open flame.
A vicious cycle had begun, but I just watched.
I could have quenched it instantly with frost, but it was more important for Lackey to fix his own mess.
"Phew. Here I go."
"..."
Yet the brute didn’t even think to use magic.
He’d actually gone to the forge to fetch an apron, a helmet, and a pair of gauntlets.
Geared up like that, he fumbled around with a pair of tongs to pluck out the rice cakes one by one. It was quite a pathetic sight.
"Tyranno, you shouldn’t do things like that, okay?"
"Mm-hm."
"Good girl."
Wonmo was wearing himself out running all over the place, and Lackey, who was basically an uncle, was busy causing one disaster after another.
I hoped that Tyranno at least would stay well-behaved, but that was wishful thinking.
"Dad, what’s this?"
"Those are called tongs."
"Then what’s this?"
"That’s Mithril."
"Then what about this?"
"..."
She wasn’t causing trouble.
She was just overwhelmingly curious and asked about everything in sight.
Who was it that said raising any child drains your energy, but raising a daughter drains you mentally?
While a son would thrash around like a freshly caught yellowtail before tiring himself out, a daughter chattered without end.
Snap!
"Huh?"This chapter is updated first at novеlping.com.
"No! My guitar!!!"
"Oh boy."
But Tyranno was a dragon, and a pure-blooded one at that.
Before this, she rarely had occasion to exert force, but after Polymorphing, things were different.
With her grip strength alone, she crushed almost anything she touched, making this a real headache.
"All right, Tyranno. You have to say you’re sorry."
"...Do I have to apologize?"
"Of course you do."
"But those people let it slide even if I don’t apologize."
"Oh..."
The biggest problem of all was the arrogance ingrained in Tyranno.
Actually, rather than arrogance, it was closer to... princess syndrome.
The residents of Large Field had pampered her endlessly for being pure-blooded, so in a way, it was only natural.
Regardless of that, failing to recognize right from wrong was an obvious issue.
"Come on. Bow your head and apologize."
"I’m sorry..."
"N-No, it’s fine! I can just get the guitar repaired."
Instilling the morality essential for living as a decent person was quite difficult.
The moment the question "Why?" came up, explaining it in detail was tricky.
Fortunately, having lived at our house for so long, Tyranno had developed some sense of morality.
"Dad. Dad."
"Yeah?"
"Where do babies come from?"
"..."
Right now, satisfying that innocent curiosity came first.
Difficult questions had to be dodged and glossed over as best as possible.
"By the way, Tyranno."
"Yeah."
"Why did you choose to look like that?"
More than anything, I was curious about Tyranno’s appearance.
They called it customizing—dragons tended to style their looks pretty impressively.
Even Dolos exuded the dignified charm of a Norse warrior.
"Actually, why did you copy Elia’s face?"
Because Polymorphed Tyranno looked identical to Elia.
She’d copied even the characteristically long ears of an elf, looking exactly like a younger version of Elia.
If there was any difference, it was that her hair and eyes were black, just like mine.
When I asked about it, Tyranno stole a glance at Elia in the distance before speaking.
"Is it weird?"
"Huh?"
"Does my face look weird?"
Tilting her head, Tyranno landed an inadvertent counterattack.
Elia’s ears even twitched in the distance, as if she’d overheard.
A single answer could end up hurting both of them at once.
On the other hand, blindly heaping on praise might make Elia gloat.
"It’s not weird. But with so many other people around, why did you choose Elia?"
"’Cause she’s the female closest to Dad?"
"..."
Did Tyranno catch her speech habits from Lackey and Dolsoe?
Of all the words she could have picked, she had to choose "female."
I made a mental note to correct her phrasing soon.
"Is that all? You have a mom too, you know."
"Mom’s face is plain."
"..."
It felt like she’d just inadvertently dissed her own mother.
In Vanir’s defense, she didn’t bother styling herself because she found it a hassle, not because she lacked aesthetic sense.
From what I’d heard, Polymorph was such high-level magic that it required considerable effort.
Meaning you literally had to customize every single detail by hand.
"Isn’t my face pretty?"
"Tyranno’s face is always pretty."
"Heh!"
Elia, you little...
Why are you the one looking so proud?
It was absurd how obvious it was that she was eavesdropping from a distance while pretending not to.
At any rate, setting aside Tyranno learning Polymorph, I needed to coordinate our upcoming schedule.

Allfather) Could you perhaps tell me how she performed the Polymorph?
For what? You wanna turn into a pretty elf too?
Pfft, hahaRead the latest chapters at novеlping.com.
Allfather) Yes.
??? - ...?
;; A flurry of wild reactions poured in one after another.
The women’s reactions were somehow terrifying, but I brushed it off, assuming I was just imagining things.
’Seeing other people might change her mind. Everyone has their own preferences, after all.’
Tyranno copying Elia’s appearance might just be because she hadn’t seen the wider world yet.
Not that I had the slightest intention of showing her the Gallery, of course.
As things stood, the kids were the only ones who hadn’t been told about the Gallery.
Furthermore, perhaps because she’d only just learned Polymorph, it wasn’t completely without problems.
Thud—
"Oof!"
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I’m okay."
Namely, she wasn’t used to walking on two legs.
Her feet tripped over each other almost every time she took a step, and her arms and legs frequently moved on the same side at once.
Since she usually walked on all fours, it was only natural.
She practically had to learn how to toddle from scratch, so I helped her from the side.
You might say this was a job for Vanir, but Vanir probably hadn’t anticipated this either.
If Vanir had realized Tyranno could Polymorph, she would have trained her herself.
I figured the "trouble" Vanir mentioned was due to the trademark dragon curiosity flaring up.
Wiggle, wiggle—
"What are you doing? Why are you wiggling your butt?"
"My tail won’t move. Can you teach me?"
"..."
But I couldn’t teach her what I didn’t know myself.
I didn’t have a long tail or huge wings, after all.
In fact, nobody in our house had them.
Cheongseol had a tail, but she probably wouldn’t be much help.
"Uwah. Urrk."
"Dad, is Noona dancing?"
"She’s just getting tangled up."
Before long, Tyranno’s arms and legs were getting completely tangled.
She moved a leg when she meant to move her tail, and moved an arm when she meant to move a leg.
"Dad, I think I turned into an octopus."
"How creative."
"Should I turn into a real octopus instead?"
"Please don’t."
It seemed she needed a proper teacher.
Conveniently, I knew just the right person, so taking her to him would do the trick.
I also had some things to ask him anyway, so it wasn’t a bad choice.
’He has an attachment to his own kind, so he wouldn’t do anything to harm her.’
The person I was going to visit was the Golden Dragon, Gerdi.
He was spending the rest of his life peacefully farming, and he had indulged in mortal Amusements in the past.
He would surely be a great help to Tyranno, so going to see him in person made sense.
Gerdi’s domain was one of the safe zones, so bringing just a small group would be plenty.
"Why are you bringing me along, though?"
"’Cause you’re like a buy-one-get-one deal?"
"I know of no such concept."
"Just think of yourself as clearance stock."
Naturally, I brought Lackey along to make traveling easier.
Of course, reaching that place required Nidhogg’s help, so I brought Cheongseol along as well.
And so, we arrived at Gerdi’s domain.
To get to where he lived, we had to travel on foot.
Since I had met Gerdi alone right after the Heavenly God Martial Festival, no coordinates had been set.
But then.
"...What is that smell?"
The closer we got to Gerdi’s residence, the more a strange scent tickled the tip of my nose.
No, not tickled—it was a familiar yet strangely unpleasant stench.
’Like burning metal...’
An uneasy feeling came over me, and I hastened my steps.
For the smell to reach this far, something dangerous must have happened.
When we finally arrived at Gerdi’s domain—the vast open field—what I witnessed was...
"Master. This is..."
"Yeah. A Kraken."
It was a Mechanical Kraken that had crashed into the ground, completely nonfunctional.
But there was something that caught my attention even more.
"That one looks even bigger, though."
"Dad, is that a ship?"
A vessel had crashed right beside the kraken, completely dead.
It was vastly larger than the kraken, comparable to an aircraft carrier.
Aside from the damaged sections, it looked well-maintained, as if it had stopped working only recently.
The moment I saw it, I rushed toward Gerdi’s house in the middle of the field.
The closer I got to his house, the more wrecked vessels littered the surroundings.
’Thankfully, the house looks intact...’
Unlike the utter devastation around it, Gerdi’s house was relatively unharmed.
Without waiting for permission, I hurried inside.
"..."
And there, sitting in a rocking chair, was his cold corpse.
A gaping hole was pierced through his chest, as if his Dragon Heart had been gouged out.
And the mimics he had loved so dearly lay dead in his embrace, their functions completely halted.
’...What a bitter sight.’
An indescribable emotion surged over me.
