《You have acquired the Demon King’s Lust and the Demon King’s Envy!》
《The Demon King’s Lust and the Demon King’s Envy have fused with ‘True Demon King!’》
Vafovald, the Evil Demon Elephant Beast-king, and Toothwald, the Walrus Beast-king, sat on the ground as if their bodies were completely drained of energy.
Vafovald groaned. “Where am I…? Something was burning so fiercely within me, and now it has just vanished…? And yet, I feel refreshed, as if I was released from something that was possessing me… I feel as if I have become a sage.”
“Ugh, I was so envious of Vafovald, and now I am not envious of him at all? Why?” murmured Toothwald.
“That’s because I ate the fragments of Guduranis’s soul that Alda embedded in you,” explained Vandalieu, thinking about what unpleasant fragments he had just eaten as he looked at the two Beast-kings.
He wasn’t surprised that the fragment embedded in Vafovald was the Demon King’s ‘Lust,’ but he had been certain that the one in Toothwald was a similar fragment, so he was surprised to learn that it was the Demon King’s ‘Envy’ instead – though their words and actions while they had lost their sanity could indeed be explained by Vafovald being influenced by the Demon King’s ‘Lust,’ while the Demon King’s ‘Envy’ had made Toothwald envious of him.
“W-what?! You ate fragments of Guduranis’s soul?! It doesn’t matter how they took hold of us, spit them out! Spit them out, right now!” Vafovald shouted in alarm.
“No, Vafovald, it’s too late!” cried Toothwald. “Look, this boy’s body has already transformed in such a terrible way!”
“I can put these away if you let go of me,” Vandalieu said, whose upper body was still pinched in the grip of Vafovald’s trunk. “And besides, I had these before I ate the soul fragments. Don’t you remember?”
These guys are good people (or rather, gods),Vandalieu thought, deciding to forget what they had said and done while they had lost their sanity.
They had been after Darcia because they had been driven mad by Guduranis’s ‘Lust’ and ‘Envy.’ Those weren’t their real personalities. Hate the sin, not the sinner – everything was Alda’s fault.
“You two, the boy is fine, so you need not worry,” Zadiris told them. “He has devoured countless fragments of Guduranis’s soul and body up to this point, and he has not been negatively affected at all… so can you please let him go?”
Meanwhile, Darcia and Basdia’s battle against Byazekbyoct seemed to have reached its conclusion as well.
Partway through the battle, Byazekbyoct had decided to try and flee, but Darcia and Basdia hadn’t allowed that to happen, cutting up all of the orbs making up his body into pieces.
Even so, Byazekbyoct continued to try and escape while firing beams of light haphazardly at his pursuers, but this did not work on Darcia, who had Vida descended upon her. He let out an echoing screech as he was sealed away.
“Phew, it’s over. Vandalieu, have those two returned to their senses?” Darcia asked, undoing her ‘Goddess Descent’ and landing on top of Vandalieu’s enormous body with the Orichalcum vessel containing the sealed Byazekbyoct in her hands.
“Yes, I’ve absorbed the fragments of Guduranis’s soul from them,” said Vandalieu. “I don’t think there are any lasting mental effects, either.”
Vafovald and Toothwald gasped as they looked at Darcia.
“To think that a human would be capable of summoning Vida-sama, a great god, upon herself… I see, I mistook her for Vida,” Vafovald realized.
“Even though she was descended upon you, it was a great disrespect to mistake you for her. I apologize,” said Toothwald.
“I am truly ashamed,” Vafovald said.
The two of them bowed their heads in apology.
“Do not worry. You had lost your minds because of the fragments of Guduranis’s soul,” Darcia said kindly. “It doesn’t bother me, as long as you understand that Vida and I are separate beings.”
“You’re not thinking of having me call you stepfather anymore, are you?” said Vandalieu.
He was currently an amalgamation of black limbs, with eyeballs all over his body, glaring at the two Beast-kings.
“Out of the question,” Vafovald assured him, bowing his head again.
“Forgive us,” said Toothwald, doing the same.
“Although I am determined to become the progenitor of a new race of Beast-kin if Vida-sama desires it, becoming your stepfather with this trunk of mine would be very, very…” Vafovald trailed off.
“With my charge lacking great strength, I am unworthy,” said Toothwald.
“You do seem to remember quite a lot of what happened while you lost your minds,” Vandalieu remarked.
The battle had been brief, but even so, Vafovald and Toothwald had sensed that anyone that Vandalieu would accept as his stepfather – in other words, as a partner for Darcia to remarry – would have to be far more powerful than Guduranis himself.
Let’s just say that we were talking about Vida-sama when she isn’t descended upon Darcia-dono,the two Beast-kings decided.
Although they had been fighting against each other just minutes ago, with the common threat before them, their minds were agreed on this.
“If Darcia were to remarry in the future…” Zadiris pondered what Vandalieu would do in such a situation, but quickly realized the answer. “Well, it’s obvious what would happen.”
Just as he had done during the battle, Vandalieu would test various things including the candidate’s strength, and if he was not satisfied with the results, he would make them produce results that did satisfy him – using every kind of method at his disposal.
“So, Van, are you going to eat these right away? They’re freshly harvested,” said Basdia, landing on Vandalieu’s enormous Demon-King-fragment body next to Darcia.
From her pocket, she produced the vessel containing the sealed evil god that they had defeated before Byazekbyoct.
“No, not right away. I am a little bloated from eating too much of Guduranis’s soul,” Vandalieu said.
“Are you alright, Vandalieu? Should we get everyone to reshape it again?” Darcia asked.
“I’m alright for now,” Vandalieu assured her. “My soul’s shape is just a little distorted, that’s all.”
Unlike Heinz, Vandalieu didn’t believe a word of the nonsense spouted by Guduranis when he was imperfectly resurrected. He hadn’t felt anything unnatural or wrong with his mind or his body since then.
However, it was still a fact that he was a little bloated from devouring multiple fragments of Guduranis’s soul one after another in a short period of time.
… ‘Lust,’ ‘Envy,’ ‘Vengefulness,’ ‘Madness’ – There’s not a single pleasant fragment among them, either. Though perhaps that’s to be expected, since it’s Guduranis’s soul, after all.
The soul in question was that of a grotesque Demon King who had appeared from another world to invade this one. As Vandalieu realized, perhaps it was only natural that there were no pleasant fragments like ‘Morals,’ ‘Courage,’ or ‘Love.’
“And besides, Zantark, Botin, Peria, and Gufadgarn have bought me some breathing room. I’ll keep them as Mana recovery items,” Vandalieu said.
“Yes, I heard from Vida. Ricklent and Zuruwarn seem to be making moves, too,” said Darcia.
Zantark was not the only great god enraged by Alda’s heinous acts.
Alda had embedded fragments of Guduranis’s soul within gods and then unleashed them in locations that were of significance to Vandalieu or had his allies present there. The fact that he had chosen gods of Vida’s faction was something that the other great gods could not emotionally accept. And the fact that he had used commanders of the Demon King’s army, such as the Evil God of Cursed Poison and the Evil God of Mad Slaughter, was something that could not be forgiven as the actions of a god who was supposed to maintain this world’s existence.
Alda’s heinous acts could have turned this world into one that humans could not live in. They were utterly unforgiveable.
“To think that such terrible things have happened… and yet, we…” Vafovald murmured, feeling responsible.
“It’s not something that you should blame yourselves for!” Darcia assured him and Toothwald. “Vida seemed happy to see you both again, too!”
Meanwhile, Vandalieu was checking the situation in other regions and trying to decide where to go next.
Just then, a god appeared from the sky. “Hello, there. Judging from the behavior of Vafovald and Toothwald, I am under the assumption that you are gods who support Vida-sama, and these are her worshipers. I am Wisewarn, the God of Concealment.”
From Wisewarn’s bizarre appearance, Basdia and Zadiris raised their guards, assuming that he was a god who had been a part of the Demon King’s army but changed sides to join Vida’s faction.
“Another one, boy!” Zadiris warned.
“Do not give up, just remain still for a moment! Van here will eat that fragment of Guduranis’s soul!” said Basdia.
“Huh? Eat Guduranis’s soul?” Wisewarn repeated.
His eyes opened wide in shock at these words which would have been unthinkable to say a hundred thousand years ago. He was so shocked that he forgot to continue his self-introduction.
“You two, I don’t feel Guduranis’s presence in him, so I think he’s alright,” Vandalieu told Zadiris and Basdia.
“Oh! You are the God of Concealment! A subordinate god of Zuruwarn-sama!” said Vafovald, recognizing the god.
“Like us, you were captured and sealed away by Alda’s forces, but… like us, it seems that you have been revived,” said Toothwald.
Vafovald and Toothwald’s recognition of the god quickly made his background clear to Basdia and the others.
“Hmm? So in other words, there is a fragment of Guduranis’s soul in me as well? But there is no sign of that… is there?” Wisewarn asked.
“No, there isn’t. But just in case, may I check?” said Vandalieu.
“I should be the one requesting for you to do so,” Wisewarn said. “If such a fragment is lurking somewhere deep within my soul, then destroy me without hesitation.”
“I don’t think that will be necessary, based on my track record,” Vandalieu assured him.Read the latest chapters at NovelPing.
Vandalieu touched Wisewarn’s soul and checked quickly but thoroughly whether there was a fragment of Guduranis’s soul infesting him. He found that Wisewarn was not infested, and breathed a deep sigh of relief.
“I’ll have a guide lead the way to Borgadon’s Divine Realm, so please follow it there. He and Farmaun, who is also there, have joined Vida’s faction, so it’s alright,” Vandalieu said.
“What! He has joined Vida’s faction… It seems that more time has passed than I thought. Let us meet again later, then,” said Wisewarn.
Wisewarn was a god, so Vandalieu told him about Borgadon’s Divine Realm in the Alcrem Duchy, where he could rest before he exhausted all of his power. Farmaun was there, and a hundred thousand years ago, he had been a core part of Alda’s forces. But with a Demon King Familiar leading Wisewarn there, and with the Bird Beast-king Lafaz being present at the Divine Realm as well, things would be fine.
More importantly, it had become clear that the situation was progressing in an alarming direction.
“It seems that an imperfectly resurrected Guduranis is gathering parts of himself,” Vandalieu said.
《You have acquired ‘Divinity: Killing God’ and ‘Divinity: ‘Weather God!’》
《‘Divinity: Killing God’ and ‘Divinity: ‘Weather God’ have combined with ‘Demigod!’》
If someone keeps going without giving up, they can move forward. It’s only natural.
So when a ghost mansion keeps challenging itself without giving up, it can become able to fly.
“We’ve done it – through our loyalty for our creator and the power of the grudges and hatred we’ve fostered all this time, and our promises!” declared Silkie.
Indeed, Silkie Zakkart Mansion was flying through the sky. Even she herself didn’t quite understand how, but she was flying freely through the skies above Orbaume.
The mansion’s servants… The Undead, were delighted as well.
One of them shouted in excitement.
“We, have done, it!” another said with faltering speech.
Nobody could blame them for being so overjoyed – after all, they had met Vandalieu’s expectations in a splendid fashion.
Silkie’s personality resided in a split entity that took the form of a woman in her thirties.
“However, this is but a single milestone. We shall follow in the footsteps of Cuatro and Sam-dono and one day catch up to them!” she declared. “And for that purpose, we must defeat the enemy before us!”
The Undead let out a united battle cry as they used their abnormal strength to turn cogs. The force provided by these created a creaking noise that sounded like a scream as the mansion and garden began to transform.
Cannons, ballistae, and catapults that one would never expect to see in a mansion appeared. These were a part of Silkie’s body, and she herself controlled them.
And their ammunition was Demon King Familiars.
“Carry them!” an Undead shouted. “Load, Master on weapons!”
“Thank you, thank you,” a Demon King Familiar said as it was carried by the Undead.
“Firing!” said Silkie.
“See you,” said the cannonball-type and bolt-type Demon King Familiars as they were fired.
The monsters that these projectile-type Demon King Familiars were targeting screamed as they fell. As the Demon King Familiars were made of fragments of the Demon King, even though the monsters attempted to repel them or cast spells to defend themselves, they smashed through these, breaking and piercing their targets.
And even when they attempted to evade the projectiles, the projectiles followed them.
“Hey, come back here,” one of the Demon King Familiars said as it chased its target.
Those that did not manage to reach their targets flew back up to Silkie’s grounds on their own before they ran out of momentum and fell down on the city of Orbaume.
“As expected of the great Vandalieu. Such admirable actions, so considerate of the city that has become a battlefield,” said Gufadgarn as she used her spells to retrieve the fragments of the projectiles that had found their mark.
This was the perfect long-ranged attack that resulted in no allies being hit by stray projectiles.
But Gyupyaresla, the Evil God of Demon Castles, seemed very displeased. “Do not make a fool of me!”
“Do you object?” asked Gufadgarn.
“Of course I do! The monsters I created are being defeated one after another, that is fine! That simply means that the monsters are weaker than you vermin!”
Even at this very moment, the monsters that had just been born from the protuberances on Gyupyaresla’s spiral-shaped shell were being defeated one after another by the Demon King Familiar projectiles fired from Silkie, the Demon vigilante forces, and the adventurers including Hendriksen. But Gyupyaresla felt no anger towards that.
The monsters were hastily-made creations to hinder his enemies and to buy him time. One could even say that this situation was exactly what Gyupyaresla had hoped for – much of the enemy’s fighting forces had to be allocated to defeating them.
What he found unpleasant was the existence of the Demon King Familiars.
“What are you scum doing with Guduranis-sama’s body?!” he demanded.
“The great Vandalieu is putting it to effective use,” Gufadgarn replied.
“Why can you not understand how insolent it is?! It matters not whether this ‘Vandalieu’ is a god or a demigod! Guduranis-sama’s body being manipulated by someone other than Guduranis-sama himself is something that cannot be allowed!”
Gyupyaresla had felt nausea the moment he realized what the Demon King Familiars were. To him, they were unsightly, inferior versions of Guduranis.
“I did not realize that you were so obsessed with Guduranis, Gyupyaresla,” Gufadgarn remarked. “Though I did know that the commanders of his army were all obsessed with him to some degree.”
As far as Gufadgarn was aware, the commanders of the Demon King’s army had all adored Guduranis, each in their own way. Obeying Guduranis due to his overwhelming power, being drawn to the pleasure of obeying a being capable of destroying them, being captivated by the perfect organism that was entirely unaffected by poison and curses, desiring to one day try to kill him… These were all things that most humans would not be able to understand.
Gufadgarn had believed that none of them obeyed Guduranis because they were reliant on him and worshiped him on a level that went beyond loyalty, but it seemed that she had been mistaken.
Gufadgarn herself was reliant upon Vandalieu and worshiped him as a god, placing him at the center of all her values. Although she knew that Gyupyaresla was an enemy, she did understand how he felt.
“Why is that guy so naturally assuming that I’m some inhuman being?” a Demon King Familiar murmured.
Gufadgarn’s fleeting, faint sympathy for Gyupyaresla vanished, replaced by anger. “Atone for your sin of causing the great Vandalieu displeasure!”
Space warped and teleportation gates appeared everywhere. Lightning, flames, ice, torrents of water, whirlwinds, and cannonball-type Demon King Familiars flew about between Gufadgarn and Gyupyaresla.
The battle of space-attribute magic was only growing fiercer. It was so complex that Hendricksen and the vigilante force of Demons were unable to join the battle.
“This ‘Vandalieu’ that you worship is nothing compared to Guduranis… or even myself!” Gyupyaresla shouted.
Parts of his shell broke from within, and black tentacles appeared from the gaps.
“How foolish. Guduranis has taken over you,” Gufadgarn murmured.
She unleashed shockwaves produced by the force of distorted space returning violently to its original state.
“Taken over me? No! I have given myself to him so that we can become one! It seems that you failed to notice that!” Gyupyaresla declared.
He scattered the shockwaves by breaking space, then attempted to sever the space that Gufadgarn occupied – and her body in the process.
Gufadgarn was split in two vertically, but she showed no signs of having taken damaged.
“… So, the fact that a fragment of Guduranis’s soul was embedded in you…” one half of her murmured.
“You knew the whole time,” said the other.
The two halves of her body opened up.
“I see, so you are like Marisjafar,” Gufadgarn said.
From the severed cross-section of her body, dozens of spider-like legs emerged and began to attack.
Gyupyaresla laughed triumphantly. “I shall compliment Alda for making such a good decision for a foolish god! I thank him for freeing me and me!”
His personality had already fused with the fragment of Guduranis’s soul, and he himself no longer knew which he was.
The other gods of the Demon King’s army and the gods of Vida’s faction had resisted the fragments of Guduranis’s soul embedded in them, but Gyupyaresla did not. In fact, he had proactively attempted to become one with the fragment within him – while pretending to be on a mindless rampage in order to prevent his enemies from realizing that.
Gyupyaresla had felt the presence of the foreign object within him, and a fierce discomfort as it influenced his consciousness. He felt fear and anxiety as these feelings grew stronger. But even so, he felt no worry and instinctively realized that the object was Guduranis. And he was so loyal that he gave himself to it entirely without hesitation.
Such emotions could only be described as fanaticism.
The evil god laughed again. “You have realized it too late! I shall take back all of the fragments and rule over this world! There will be no place for this ‘Vandalieu’ you worship, the foolish Alda, or the other despicable, inferior creatures that worship them!”You are reading on novelping(.)com, the official source.
The cracks in his shell grew larger, as did the tentacles extending out from within them. The monsters he created were also spawning with rapidly increasing Ranks.
“You vermin have no choice but to accept your own destruction!” shouted Gyupyaresla – or rather, the imperfectly resurrected Guduranis.
“No, it is you who is too late,” said a voice.
The space and time around Guduranis froze.
W-what?!Guduranis thought in disbelief.
He was trapped in a special space where everything other than his own mind was stopped, even light. And then he realized that there was something at the base of the spider-like legs extending from Gufadgarn… something inside her vessel.
You… Ricklent!Guduranis screamed.
“I wonder if I should be saying, ‘long time no see,’ Guduranis,” said Ricklent, the Genie of Time and Magic.
He was inside a Dungeon that existed within Gufadgarn’s vessel.
“Of course, that doesn’t matter,” one of Ricklent’s voices said.
“My final goodbye with you is upon us,” said another.
“Farewell, then,” said the third.
Refusing to allow such a thing to happen, Guduranis attempted to escape this space where time was stopped, but he couldn’t manipulate space as he intended to.
“Guduranis, your power is that of the death attribute. After fusing with Gyupyaresla, his space-attribute power is conflicting with your death-attribute power.”
“If you were to master the use of both, I’m sure you would have become a powerful enemy. But as you have not, your power has simply been halved.”
Guduranis had undergone an incomplete resurrection, but he did not possess his ‘Memories’ or his ‘Instinct.’ All he had was his ‘Desire for Conquest.’ It was but a single fragment among the many that made up his soul.
Although he had fused with Gyupyaresla, he was unable to use his mastery of magic.
Guduranis was so furious that the space around him trembled. And then an evil god appeared – one with a form that resembled something in between a spider and a scorpion, made of panes of colored glass of unusual shapes, such as heptahedrons and hendecagons. This was Gufadgarn’s main body. Although the incarnation of her power had the form of a person, this was her true form.
“Come. Slumber and become trapped within me. The next thing you will experience is becoming a part of a great being,” Gufadgarn said as her legs closed in on Guduranis as if to cover him.
Do you intend to seal me away along with your own main body?! If you do that, your vessel will become unable to act!Guduranis screamed.
Indeed, Gufadgarn was using her own main body to seal Guduranis away. But there was no change in the expression of her vessel.
“My heart flutters with joy at the thought of performing a feat that has already been performed by the great Vandalieu. Do it, me,” Gufadgarn willed herself.
S-STOOOOOP! I SHALL NOT ALLOW ANY MORE OF MYSELF TO BE DEVOURED! I SHALL NOT ALLOW IIIIIIIT!
“Ah, great Vandalieu. Receive this offering that I dedicate to you!”
Guduranis’s screams were silenced, and only Gufadgarn’s prayers echoed across Orbaume.
The people of Orbaume were in awe, and they praised Gufadgarn… and Vandalieu.
Due to the distortion of the space around Gufadgarn, the Demon King Familiars had been watching from afar, unable to get close or speak.
“… I’m not particularly happy about this,” one of them said with a dead look in its eyes.
