Today marks the start of my 40th day here. With daily routines repeating, time surprisingly flies by pretty fast.
I wouldn’t say it’s entirely great, but it’s not strictly bad either.
Still, since I haven’t been injured and am completely intact, I decided to look on the bright side.
That I’m one of the lucky ones is obvious without looking far—just looking at Ludwig’s foot tells you everything.
In the super early days, I almost got severely bitten by a Mad Dog, but thanks to Sword Matstar’s help, I survived.
Title) Today’s Gallery Master
Wild Grylls

Here are today’s photos of the Gallery Master.
You guys don’t have a Gallery Master, do you? lol
└ Heavenly Demon) Hmph. I too wish to raise one.
└ Sword Matstar) If you raise that, your whole household will go bankrupt.
└ Isn’t Grylls forced to raise it too?
└ Yep, if he doesn’t feed it, Grylls will get eaten by him.
└ So he’s the real master lol
If there was one slight change in my routine, it was taking photos.
Posting every morning when I wake up stayed the same, but starting yesterday, I also uploaded pictures of Wonmo.
Whenever the Gallery Master makes an appearance, everyone rushes in, and upvotes rain down instantly.
I could gain points while also showing off my pet, so I really liked it.
’Of course, our Tyranno is cute too.’
Since I shouldn’t discriminate, I didn’t forget to post pictures of Tyranno as well.
After finishing my breakfast, I sent a message to a fixed handle user.
Now that the time promised by the squirrel had arrived, I needed to plant a World Tree sapling here as well.
[Let’s Grow Trees: Ah! I’m so sorry! I haven’t prepared it yet! I can give it to you this afternoon, would that be okay?]
[Wild Grylls: Yes, it’s fine. I’m the one receiving help anyway.]
[Let’s Grow Trees: Thank you! Please wait just a little bit!]
Regrettably, I had no choice but to postpone it. There’s nothing you can do about someone being busy with real life.
Even so, my workload didn’t decrease. Fortunately, summer hadn’t started yet.
Since insect swarms hadn’t broken out yet, I had the spare capacity to look around for a bit.
I immediately packed my gear and headed to the area where the squirrel was.
Since I was only going to inspect the place, I asked Ludwig to guard the shelter.
Thus I arrived at the squirrel’s area. This place had now become the 2nd Shelter.
"Woah."
I exclaimed in wonder as I looked at the World Tree sapling tended by the squirrel.
As expected of a descendant of Ratatoskr, the legendary animal.
The World Tree, which was originally just an ordinary sapling, had grown into a respectable full-fledged tree.
’The appearance itself seems ordinary, though...’
On the surface, the World Tree wasn’t much different from a normal tree.
However, it was perfectly symmetrical from left to right, and its leaves sparkled like jewels when catching the light.
Since Alfheim’s World Tree was said to be large enough to cover the entire city, this one must still be undergrown.
"Jjijik!"
While I was admiring the World Tree for a long while, a sound caught my ear.
Turning my head, I saw the squirrel poking its head out from a hole in a tree that I had no idea when it dug out.
Looking at it, it seemed to have dug a hole as soon as the World Tree grew. I spoke to the little fellow.
"Are you all done now?"
"Jjijik! Jjik!"
"The conditions are met. Now we just need to dig the hole."
Lackey, who had tagged along, translated on its behalf. Come to think of it, where did the marmots go?
With that thought, I looked around and immediately spotted them.
"Kkiyaaaang!"
"Kkyaaaang!"
"Why are you guys fighting again?"
They were pinching each other’s chests while brawling. It felt like they were fighting every single time I saw them.
Still, since these guys served as construction workers, I gently appeased them.
Soon after, I asked why they were fighting, and hilariously, they were arguing over food.
’It kind of feels like humans arguing.’
I told them to decide on lunch themselves; the important thing was the tunnel.
Since I needed to travel through the tunnels dug by these guys.
"Could you take me to the tunnel?"
At my words, the marmots stopped brawling and guided me to the tunnel.
"Wait. Didn’t you say it was a tunnel? This is just a doorway?"
Indeed, instead of an underground tunnel, they had built up soil to create an actual entrance structure.
In terms of convenience, this was much better. It was big enough that even Largo could enter if he bowed his head.
Still, curiosity was curiosity, so I asked why they built it like this.
"Kkaaang. Kkang."
"You are too big. So stacking is easier."
A reasonable answer came back. As expected of animals living in the Forest of the Four Seasons, their intelligence was high.
But it wasn’t over yet. My Shelter also needed these guys’ help.
’Still, an experiment is necessary.’This chapter is updated first at novelping(.)com.
I needed to confirm whether this tunnel—no, this entrance—really teleported you.
When I asked the marmots about this, as if expecting the question, they said they had installed another one nearby.
The installed location was right in the nearby bushes. It was hidden by foliage and hard to see.
Now that preparations were complete, I stood confidently before the entrance with a nervous heart.
Beyond the entrance, there was only pitch darkness where nothing could be seen.
If it glowed blue or something, it might be fine, but pitch-black darkness made me even more anxious.
"...There’s really no problem with this, right?"
"Kkaang!"
The marmots thumped their chests as if telling me to trust them.
Since they wouldn’t make a mistake, I steeled my mind and took a step.
As I entered the doorway, there was a sensation like being sucked in.
Next, when I completely pushed my body through, what met my eyes was the thoroughly familiar forest.
Turning my head, there were the World Tree sapling and the marmots standing in another direction.
"Whoa..."
Spatial teleportation really isn’t a big deal once experienced. But its performance is truly admirable.
With just this, I can increase the chances of escape, even if only by a little.
They are very valuable labor forces.
"Good work. Here, eat one Fasting Pill each."
"Jjijik!"
"Kkaang!"
Handing out the Fasting Pills one by one, I expressed my gratitude for their hard work.
When I asked them to do well on the next job too, they nodded their heads vigorously.
Since I haven’t obtained the World Tree sapling yet, working right away is difficult, but it will be soon.
Gkwaak—
"Alright, alright. It’s not like the Fasting Pills are going to dry up completely, so don’t be like that."
At the same time, I reassured Bbareumbo, who was worrying about his own food supply.
He passed on it last time, but here he is doing it again. Maybe it’s because I gave out 3 at once.
After tidying up the surrounding area, I returned to the Shelter.
’Until I get the World Tree sapling, I have nothing to do.’
Even if there were things to do, it was just receiving training from Ludwig.
This had its own results, so I tended to do it without complaining.
When I changed combat tactics, I struggled a little at first, but adapted easily.
"Alright. Let’s eat lunch."
"Kkyuu!"
"Ppiiik!"
After finishing lunch, I waited for Let’s Grow Trees’ message.
But no matter how long I waited, the message didn’t arrive. Even until evening came.
Thinking they might be busy, I didn’t send a separate message, but I couldn’t help feeling a bit worried.
’Still, let’s not nag. Do you know how hard it is to get a World Tree sapling?’
I’m the one who needs it, after all.
If the other side cancels the deal, it would be a huge problem.
So I just waited quietly. In the meantime, I didn’t forget to browse the Gallery.
[The thing the Elf Queen is revealing tomorrow.]
[Did the Elf Queen cause trouble again?]
[What on earth is she revealing...]
Looks like the Elf Queen caused another incident.
The person who even gave a national address about a week ago.
Judging by the speech alone, she seems surprisingly capable, but her radical nature makes her a problematic case.
’Let’s see... Showcasing a new machine tomorrow? An elf?’
Roughly skimming the contents, it says she’ll announce a new machine tomorrow.
A machine made by an elf instead of a dwarf—it felt a bit puzzling.
But I think I heard that the Elf Queen is someone far removed from lying.
Anyway, since it had nothing to do with me, I quickly brushed it off.
’Insect swarms might come tomorrow, so I should prepare.’
Starting with tightly covering the entrance with a tent canvas, I meticulously applied insect repellent.
Ludwig hadn’t experienced summer in this forest yet, so he looked puzzled at my actions.
But deciding there must be a reason, he lent me a hand.
"#$%%^^?"
[He asks if it is really true that we can see the Sky Whale.]
"You can see it. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll get another piece of Ambergris?"
Ludwig also seemed to be curious about the Sky Whale.
It was a creature of myth, after all, so it was understandable. When I first saw it, I was so flabbergasted I couldn’t utter a word.
Thoroughly prepared for the insect swarm like that, an uneventful day passed.
Wiiiiiing!!!
The next morning.
As expected, as soon as summer began, a terrifyingly massive swarm of insects broke out.
Ludwig had never seen such a swarm of insects before, judging by his shocked expression.
If we had slept outside, we would have been eaten alive by that insect swarm without mercy.
’Come to think of it, this guy was in the grasslands, but he didn’t get bitten by bugs?’
As expected, Ludwig is also extraordinarily lucky. Is Goddess Aris really helping him out or something?
Anyway, we took care of breakfast inside the cave. It was meat prepared yesterday in advance.
"Amnyamnyam!"Get faster updates on novelping dot com.
"Nyamnyamnyam!"
"Is it delicious?"
Seeing Wonmo and Tyranno eat heartily made me feel good.
Ah, of course I didn’t forget to take photos and videos. Cuteness must be spread far and wide.
It was right around when we smoothly finished breakfast and I was mindlessly browsing the Gallery.
—Buooooo!
The familiar whale cry resounded from outside. As soon as I heard that sound, I quietly pulled back the tent flap.
The insect swarm was still flying around, but thanks to the repellent, they couldn’t enter the cave.
Shuuuuuuung!
Even that didn’t last long. The Sky Whale had begun sucking in the insect swarm.
Trees shook violently, but not to a dangerous degree.
Before long, as the insect swarm completely vanished, I took Ludwig and stepped outside.
—Buooooo
Looking up, a massive whale was swimming through the sky, gently swaying its tail.
The mythical creature, the Sky Whale. Ludwig gasped in marvel at the presence of the Sky Whale.
"Wow..."
[Magnificent.]
Cain also exclaimed in admiration, as it was his first time seeing a living Sky Whale.
No matter how noble holy knights were, something amazing was still amazing.
From what I heard, the Sky Whale frequently appeared not only in myths but in fairy tales as well.
—Tuk!
It was while I was taking photos and videos of the Sky Whale.
Just like before, the Sky Whale excreted something.
It’s definitely Ambergris. As soon as that thought hit me, I immediately gave instructions.
"Did you all see that just now? We have to pick that up."
[Hmm? Didn’t the Sky Whale just poop?]
"Yes. We have to pick that up."
"..."
At my words about picking up poop, the reactions of Ludwig and Cain were quite something to behold.
But what could be done? That Ambergris is supposed to be incredibly rare.
’Even Allfather hasn’t properly figured out its efficacy yet, though...’
There will definitely be a use for it. If push comes to shove, it can be used as fertilizer.
Anyway, the group grabbed their gear following my instructions.
Afterwards, as a result of tracking the location where the Ambergris had fallen...
"Ah. We won’t be able to pick it up this time."
[Why is that?]
"Up ahead is a bit... scary place."
I came to realize that the place where the Ambergris fell was the gorilla territory.
Other places might be fine, but gorilla territory was still uncomfortable.
What’s more, Lackey was right here with us. He might go crazy.
"..."
Or not. I looked at Lackey, who looked like he didn’t have a single thought in his head.
Looking around, I asked cautiously.
"Hey. You know where this is, right?"
"I know."
"But you seem surprisingly calm? No thoughts of revenge?"
"?"
Lackey tilted his head at my words, then showed a unique response.
"Ah. Right."
"..."
’Ah, right’ my ass.
As I stared at him with an absurd expression, Lackey replied.
"Full belly, warm back. Why bother?"
I was rendered speechless.
Grylls ultimately gave up on the Ambergris and returned to the original Shelter.
Even without the Ambergris, there were plenty of things to do. So what happened to the piece that fell into gorilla territory?
"Uho?"
"Uhoho. Uho."
As Grylls expected, the gorillas were able to discover it.
However, its appearance was quite different from the Ambergris Grylls had anticipated.
Usually, Ambergris is close to excretion, but this held an intact form.
Although its entire body was covered in various filth and sticky liquid, if it had a shape, it definitely had one.
If Grylls had seen it, he would have thought it was dead in a ’Yamcha pose’—it was the shape of a human.
"Uho? (Is he dead?)"
"Uuu. (Let’s take him for now.)"
"Uuho. Uu. (It stinks, let me throw it away.)"
After the gorilla scouts engaged in various discussions, the result:
"Uuu. (Let me take him to the boss.)"
"Uhoho. (That sounds good.)"
"Uhoho? (Come to think of it, doesn’t a similar guy live nearby?)"
"Uhoho. Uho. (That’s for later.)"
Non-returnable trash had arrived.
