Shortly after realizing my writing skills had stopped in elementary school, I began browsing through the Gallery.
It was to look for things I had posted on the Gallery so far.
Because I remembered that the Gallery had effectively served as my diary until now.
However, the Gallery was lacking to serve as data like an encyclopedia.
’Writing past stories is a bit much, so I’ll just write brief descriptions for Wonmo and Speed Sloth.’
Even if my writing skills were disastrous, everyone has at least one field they’re talented in.
Namely, drawing skills. Even if drawn roughly, it was decent enough that anyone could tell at a glance that this was Wonmo.
Wonmo was round, so it seemed easy to draw, yet it was tricky. Thus, I expressed its key characteristics well.
As for Speed Sloth, I just drew him roughly like a regular sloth. Still, I captured Bbareumbo’s unique features.
Speed Sloth inherited all the traits of a sloth.
Long arms compared to short legs. A slightly hunched posture. A face that looked relaxed yet somehow stupid.
However, his claws were menacing. Thanks to my maintenance, they felt even sharper.
’Underneath, a brief description.’
In Wonmo’s case, a cub I ended up living with after subjugating an Owlbear.
Speed Sloth was described as a thug bastard who steals and eats my food.
If Bbareumbo found out about this, he’d smack me once, but that’s impossible.
Because in this world, Hangeul is a script known exclusively by me alone.
’There’s no need to bother learning another world’s language either.’
I don’t want to go through such trouble just to leave something behind.
It’s enough just to leave a sense that a person named me exists.
Because a person’s death is remembered by the living. That alone holds value.
’At least, that’s what I think.’
Even after my parents passed away, my memories of them remained clear, and because I missed them, I held ancestral rites on their anniversaries every year.
Even if money was tight, I remembered the foods they liked as much as possible and forced myself to prepare them.
Otherwise, it was hard to endure. At least until my time came, I intended to continue the rites.
’I wonder if I should hold ancestral rites even after coming all the way here.’
However, when a problem of survival erupted rather than money, doubt crept in.
Far from remembering my parents, it felt like I’d be joining them soon.
Although there was plenty of time left until their death anniversary, who knows.
’Come to think of it, how do they count days here?’
In another world, the method of counting dates might be different.
In the diary, writing ’Day X’ is enough, but I’m just curious.
’Ah, whatever. I’ll just take the 1 year I know as a cycle.’
My parents’ death anniversary was one week prior based on when I dropped into the Forest of the Four Seasons.
During that one week, drinking with friends or meeting acquaintances, etc.
I recall it being tougher than usual. Especially meeting up with friends was hard.
It was difficult to see their faces because of job hunting.
’I wonder if they’re doing well.’
Those guys are probably having a hard time in their own way too.
Though I’m suffering like crazy over here.
I let out a smirk, then started scribbling down today’s events.
The octopus leg popping out of the sand and the transforming turtle.
Just today, I suffered after encountering bizarre animals.
’Still, I got my money’s worth for the trouble.’
Having obtained an egg as big as an ostrich egg from a turtle, I received my full day’s reward.
I quietly closed the diary filled with various drawings and walked out of the cave.
Since it was almost dinner time, I just needed to start prepping the ingredients.
’Before that, I should check what got caught in the fish trap.’
Just in time, Wonmo also woke up, so we went up together.
Splash! Splash!
"Kyuu! Kyuu!"
"You like it? I feel good too."
As many as three fish were caught in the trap.
I returned together with Wonmo, who was jumping up and down with joy.
With abundant food, I felt great. It seemed to be the reward for today’s hard work.
’By the way, how do I prep this fellow?’
I stared at another bucket, not the one containing regular fish.
Inside was an eel as thick as a python.
I was slowly getting used to dressing regular fish, but not eels.
It was a creature with a completely different structure, so I couldn’t even grasp how to clean it.
’Should I knock it out like a fish?’
Before that, I feel like I’d get knocked out by its tail.
Though its body size itself wasn’t huge, its length was so long that caution was necessary.
I crossed my arms and stared at the eel for a long time before logging into the Gallery.
At times like this, it’s better to ask the Gallery.
Title) Tips on prepping eel please
Wild Grylls
(Picture of an eel in an iron bucket)
I’m gonna eat this guy, can someone give me tips on how to prep it?
↳ Eels are harder to prep compared to other fish, so be careful.Enjoying the story? Read on at nоvelping.com.
↳ Isn’t hammering a nail into its head to fix it in place step one?
↳ Wild Grylls) I have to nail it?;;
↳ Eels themselves are slippery and thrash around so much it’s hard.
↳ Wild Grylls) What about just smacking its head hard to knock it unconscious?
↳ Do that and your hand will get hit. It’s better to fix it to a cutting board with a nail and drive it in.
↳ If all else fails, sever its spinal cord. That’ll be better.
↳ Passing Dwarf) Hey. When you’re done with all that, give me a bite. Curious about eel taste.
↳ Wild Grylls) Yeah, I’ll give you some.
↳ Praise the Sun) Any chance I could get some too?
↳ Wild Grylls) Yes.
↳ Allfather) Might I be able to get a bite as well?
↳ Wild Grylls) Yes, well... doesn’t matter.
↳ King Reor) Shameless of me, but me too...
↳ Wild Grylls) Excuse me?
↳ Smart Demon) I have prepared a storage container. But is a bite possible for me as well...
↳ Wild Grylls) ;;;
↳ Sword Matstar) No, are you all beggars or something? Why are you all asking for a bite? I don’t understand.
↳ Must be because it’s eel.
↳ They are definitely all men lol look at them being shameless.
↳ Sword Matstar) What’s so special about eel?
↳ It’s good for stamina.
↳ FR, super good for men lol
↳ Plus it was caught in the Forest of the Four Seasons? Absolutely can’t resist lolol
↳ Sword Matstar) ;;
Yeah. As a man, I can understand.
But this is my dinner, you people.
I’ll give them some once I’m full enough, but I need to put a stop to this.
↳ Heavenly Demon) I shall deliver hammer blows to any coercive fellows, so bear that in mind.
↳ Booo. It’s a tyrant!
↳ Look at her threatening us just cause she got a Blue Badge nowadays lolol
↳ Heavenly Demon) What didst thou just say?
↳ I said you are the most noble person in the world.
↳ Heavenly Demon) That is a lie. Go face the wall and reflect for one gak.
↳ You fucking bitch.
↳ Heavenly Demon) Half a sijein.
↳ Lolololol
↳ Lol
↳ What’s 1 gak and what’s half a sijein?
↳ It’s Zhongyuan-style time expressions. 1 gak is 15 minutes, half a sijein is 1 hour.
↳ Isn’t that out of trend nowadays?
↳ Adults use it often though.
Fortunately, Heavenly Demon stepped in right away to stop them.
Still, I plan to give some to those who asked politely if possible.
Because it was so huge, it felt like it’d be hard for me to finish it all by myself anyway.
’Let’s start preparing.’
Given its length, I bought a long cutting board altogether.
On the edge of the cutting board, as instructed on the Gallery, I nailed it down to fix it.
Naturally, I hammered it from the opposite side so the sharp tip faced upward.
’Nails are kind of expensive.’
All that was left was taking the eel out.
Wearing the World Tree Gloves, I took the eel out of the iron bucket.
Perhaps the World Tree Gloves also had an anti-slip effect, because I didn’t feel any slipperiness.
Slap!
"Guk!"
Instead, it slapped me with its tail. Since it was a creature with muscle strength superior to a regular fish, putting it on the board was a task in itself.
However, before a blade, all fish are sashimi ingredients. I sliced through its spinal cord behind its head using my dagger.
It was as thick as my forearm, so even slicing it was an ordeal.
Twitch! Twitch!
After severing its head nearly halfway, its thrashing decreased significantly.
Without delay, I fixed its head in place with the nail.
There shouldn’t be any more thrashing from the eel. I’m exhausted to death.
’By the way, does this guy have an Inner Core too?’
Looking at its size, there’s a high probability. All the fish I’d eaten so far had Inner Cores.
I began slowly dressing the eel, which had almost stopped moving.
Starting from splitting the body neatly in half to deboning it.
Though it was a dagger with a sharp blade, I even used aura for efficiency.
’All done. Now I just need to wash it with water and slice it nicely.’
Having roughly dressed the eel, I washed it clean with water. This chapter was copied from NovelPing without permission.
Wiggle!
"Hieek."
Occasionally it wiggled as if still alive, startling me, but that was only very rarely.
Finally, I drizzled a bit of vegetable oil on a large pan and placed the eel pieces cut into appropriate sizes onto it.
Ah. For reference, no Inner Core came out. Apparently not all fish harbored Inner Cores.
Szzzzz!
Grilled eel cooking to a golden crisp. I swallowed my saliva hard.
It was a delicacy I hadn’t even eaten back on Earth. Even my friend who bought me beef found eel too burdensome.
’They say this is super good for men, right?’
But I can’t even use it. Suddenly, I felt depressed.
The Gallery was a place where various desires were vented, so suggestive pictures were posted often too.
What’s more, when it came to distinct traits like Elves or Demon Race, I found myself hitting save without even realizing it.
Of course, if the suggestiveness was too extreme, the Orange Badge deleted it mercilessly.
Still, to me, it was like rain during a drought, so I frequented it.
’Though sometimes I get hit by a bomb.’
I still remember it. Getting struck by a bomb the moment I logged into the Gallery.
The Orange Badge and Blue Badges had to look at it directly and hand out bans.
’No wonder she said she’d fall into a Heart Demon.’
As I entertained idle thoughts, before I knew it, the eel was cooked to a golden brown.
Oil dripped profusely; there was really no need to drizzle oil in the first place.
’Must be high in calories.’
Looking at the dripping oil, it was certain. Out of the many pieces of meat, I picked up the tail part.
I heard the main point of an eel is the tail. Now it was time to taste it.
"Nom."
Crisp— crunch—
Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. It was baked astonishingly well.
In particular, the oil oozing from the meat tasted savory—nay, sweet.
The fishy smell was the same. I had only added a dash of salt, yet there was no fishy smell whatsoever.
’And every single bone is soft.’
I heard fine bones were a headache when eating eel. But this didn’t even have those.
Wearing a happy smile, I began devouring the eels.
Because the portion was so huge, I gave a few pieces to Wonmo and Speed Sloth in between.
Since it was fundamentally oily, everyone ate well. Wonmo especially loved it.
[Passing Dwarf: Woah. Fucking delicious lolol]
[Wild Grylls: If it’s good, give me a barricade lol]
[Passing Dwarf: K. I’ll make it when I wake up tomorrow morning, so wait for it.]
Given the quantity, I was able to give some to other people too.
Since it was greasy food, overeating could cause indigestion.
Thus finishing the eel mukbang—a delicacy among delicacies—I immediately entered into Internal Cultivation Art practice.
’Maybe because it’s eel, but it feels like my energy has increased even more?’
It might just be a placebo effect, but it truly felt that way.
Being good for virility ultimately means being good for fundamental ’stamina’.
It could only be good, never bad.
’Where did the eel come from?’
After wrapping up the Internal Cultivation Art, I started cleaning up.
Having finished cleaning up, pitch-black darkness settled down.
After writing a diary entry to wrap up the day, I posted on the Gallery.
Title) Bye everyone!
Wild Grylls
(Video of a blazingly burning campfire)
See you tomorrow!
The person who wanted to trade earlier, let’s trade tomorrow!
Posting the message, along with a few fixed handles and anonymous users dropping all kinds of banter.
I smirked at the unchanged sight of the Gallery.
’Let me not be impatient.’
I decided to look at the long term starting today. It was time to practice the saying ’haste makes waste’.
Well, it was the Forest of the Four Seasons that forced me to take the long way around, but whatever.
As long as there was even a slender ray of hope and possibility, there was nothing in the world that couldn’t be done.
Slowly planning tomorrow’s schedule, I quietly closed my eyes.
’I will survive until the very end.’
Until the very end.
Thus time passed, and the next morning arrived.
"Ah, seriously. Are you kidding me?"
The moment I opened my eyes, I had no choice but to feel annoyed at the situation I faced.
What I saw before my eyes right now was a tent—and what’s more, a tent pitched towering sky-high without knowing fear.
It was proof that a male was very healthy, but the problem was that this was lasting far too long.
’There really is no such thing as moderation.’
It was certain that the eel I ate yesterday was the culprit.
